This year's No. 15 typhoon "Suli" has formed

According to the Central Meteorological Observatory and the Municipal Meteorological Service Center, the tropical depression in the South China Sea has strengthened into Typhoon Suli, the 15th typhoon of this year (English name: Soulik; Origin of the name: Micronesia; Name meaning: the title of the traditional general of Pohnpei Island in Micronesia), its center at 10 a.m. is located about 115 km northeast of Dong Ha City, Quang Tri Province, Viet Nam, and is a tropical storm of intensity (8 magnitude, 18 m/s). It is expected to move south-westward at 15-20 km/h and make landfall on the eastern coast of Viet Nam this night before gradually weakening in intensity.

How are typhoons named?

According to the Central Meteorological Observatory, 10 names of typhoons are selected by 14 countries and regions to be used in a circular manner, and some typhoons that cause severe disasters may also be removed from the list. At present, the 10 names provided by Chinese mainland are Anemone, Ginkgo, Fengshen, Rhododendron, Magnolia, Wukong, White Deer, Poseidon, Electric Mother, and Begonia. Among them, "Mulan" replaced the removed "Seahorse"; "White Deer" replaced the removed "Haiyan"; "Ginkgo" replaces the "Jade Rabbit" that was removed.
