According to the data of the Feichang Quasi-Civil Aviation Dashboard, the actual number of passenger flights on domestic routes during the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday (September 15-17) in 2024 will be 34,200, a year-on-year decrease of 12% and a year-on-year decrease of 6% in 19 years. During the holiday, more than 10,000 passenger flights were cancelled on domestic routes, an increase of 56% compared with last year. Flight cancellations were mainly affected by typhoon weather. The actual number of passenger flights on international and regional routes was 5,862, an increase of 39% year-on-year, and has recovered to 73% of the same period in 19. The actual number of cancelled passenger flights on international and regional routes was 934, an increase of 131% compared with last year.

In terms of airports, the top 10 airports in terms of domestic flight volume are Guangzhou Baiyun, Shenzhen Bao'an, Chengdu Tianfu, Xi'an Xianyang, Beijing Capital, Chongqing Jiangbei, Beijing Daxing, Kunming Changshui, Hangzhou Xiaoshan, and Shanghai Pudong. The top 10 airports in terms of international and regional flight volume are Shanghai Pudong, Guangzhou Baiyun, Beijing Capital, Shenzhen Bao'an, Chengdu Tianfu, Beijing Daxing, Hangzhou Xiaoshan, Xiamen Gaoqi, Kunming Changshui, and Qingdao Jiaodong.

It is worth noting that due to the typhoon weather, the number of domestic flights cancelled in Shanghai Pudong and Shanghai Hongqiao exceeded 2,000 flights during the holiday, an increase of 292% compared with last year. Sept. 16 saw the highest number of flight cancellations this year.
