Pele began his career with Santos in 1956, during which time he won the Copa Libertadores 2 times, the Intercontinental Cup, the Brazilian National Championship (predecessor) 6 times, and the São Paulo State Football League 11 times. In 1957, Pele was selected for the Brazilian national team, played 92 games for Brazil and scored 77 goals, winning three World Cups in 1958, 1962 and 1970, permanently retaining the Remit Cup for Brazil, and being the only player to win the World Cup three times.
