6 new ships signed! Mainland undertakes Qatar's LNG "100 Ships Plan"
On September 10, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Group Co., Ltd., together with China Shipbuilding Industry Trading Co., Ltd. and Qatar Energy LNG Company, held a grand ceremony at the eastern plant of Hudong-Zhonghua Changxing Island to celebrate the naming of the 174,000 cubic meter large LNG carrier "Rex · Tillerson" and the second ship "um · Guvairina" of the "Qatar 100-ship construction plan - Qatar North Gas Field Expansion Ship Purchase Project" on the same day. Yesterday (September 9), six new orders were signed for the world's largest 271,000 cubic meters of ultra-large LNG carriers, and so far, the three parties have signed a total of 24 ultra-large LNG ships of 271,000 cubic meters and 12 large LNG carriers of 174,000 cubic meters, ranking first among shipyards in the world in terms of carrying gas capacity.
The named "Rex · Tillerson" and "um · Gwanairina" are the latest types of 174,000 cubic meter LNG carriers of the fifth-generation "Changheng series" independently developed and designed by Hudong-Zhonghua, and are specially tailored in accordance with the technical standards of Qatar Energy Company to operate the world's largest LNG fleet, integrating the latest design concept, the best technical equipment, the strongest environmental performance, the most forward-looking, and the essence of the design of the first four generations of LNG carriers of Hudong-Zhonghua. With a total length of 299 meters, a width of 46.4 meters and a depth of 26.25 meters, it adopts the latest generation of double-stern fin line and is equipped with a number of low-carbon and digital technologies and equipment, and is classified by the United States Bureau of Shipping (ABS).
