A staff member of the Ruicheng County Cultural Protection Center said that the ancient stele had not been identified before and had not been included in the category of cultural relics.

According to another report, the village's accountant said, "It has indeed been recovered, and I have sent back 200,000 yuan to the other party's account." The accountant said that he was not directly involved in the sale and recovery of the stele at that time, but because he was Murakami's accountant, he also knew about it because of the accounting problem.
According to the accountant, he heard that the reason why the stele was sold was because the village committee found that the base of the stele had been pried by someone some time ago, "as if someone wanted to steal the stele, so the village thought about simply selling it."
