At the end of 1932, the 13th Brigade of the Kuomintang Zhou Hunyuan Division entered the Huangshidu area, threatening the Soviet area at any time.
The Central Military Commission of the Revolution is determined to destroy this enemy and pull out this nail.
On December 31, Zhu De, Zhou Enlai, and Wang Jiaxiang issued a combat order: "Eliminate the enemy in Huangshidu, and the Red Third Army is the first echelon, taking on the task of eliminating the enemy in the Huangshidu area; The Red First Army is the second echelon, corresponding to the Red Third Army Corps; The Red Fifth Army Corps assumed the task of pinning down the 23rd Division of Li Yunjie, the enemy of Nancheng, and the 14th Division of Zhou Zhirou, and cooperated with the Red Army in the Huangshidu area. ”

On January 4, 1933, the battle officially began.
In this battle, the Red Army simply and neatly annihilated two enemy divisions, killed and captured more than 10,000 enemy officers and men, captured more than 40 artillery pieces, more than 300 light and heavy machine guns, more than 10,000 other guns, and a large number of silver dollars and military supplies, and won an unprecedented victory.
The victory of the Yellow Lion Crossing greatly boosted the morale of the Red Army, and the army and the people were jubilant.
Chiang Kai-shek's love lost two divisions of Chen Cheng at once, and he was so angry that he almost went crazy. Unwilling to lose, he was determined to fight the Red Army to the death. However, after the victory, the Red Army soon disappeared without a trace, and Chen Cheng had no choice but to send his ace division, the 11th Division, to change the operational policy of "separate advance and joint attack" to "break through in the middle", in an attempt to occupy Guangchang and induce the main force of the Red Army to fight a decisive battle with it.
In order to punish Chen Cheng, the Central Revolutionary Military Commission made careful arrangements.
After receiving the combat order, Dong Zhentang led his troops into the designated offensive position on the night of the 20th.
At dawn on the 21st, the general offensive began.

The enemy's 11th Division is a team started by Chen Cheng, known as the crown of the whole army, with extremely strong combat effectiveness, and can be described as the main force in Chiang Kai-shek's descendants, and has never lost a battle.
The battle was fierce from the start, and the two sides fought to the death for every position and every commanding height.
In the afternoon, several enemy planes rushed to help in the battle, and they kept diving and bombing at the assembly area of our main force.
Suddenly, a bomb fell near the command post of the Red First Army, lifting Lin Biao and Nie Rongzhen, who were writing battle orders, to the bottom of the hillside. Fortunately, the two were not injured, but the battle was more difficult.
At this critical moment, the Red Fifth Army Corps, under the leadership of Dong Zhentang, broke through the enemy's defensive position in one fell swoop, tore a gap in the annular defense system of the Kuomintang 11th Division, and the enemy began to waver on all fronts.
The battle lasted until dusk, most of Chiang Kai-shek's ace division was annihilated, and the Red Army surrendered more than 5,000 guns.
In this battle, Dong Zhentang's command was determined, and the Red Fifth Army made outstanding achievements.

The commanders and fighters of the Red Fifth Army were brave and tenacious, able to attack and defend well, and were especially good at fighting with sabers. The bright saber made the enemy tremble, and he threw away his armor. Chiang Kai-shek's ace division fought its first and last defeat in front of the Red Fifth Army, and it ceased to exist.
When the news reached Nanjing, Chiang Kai-shek wrote in an edict to Chen Cheng: "This setback is tragic and abnormal, and it is the only hidden pain in his life."
At this point, the fourth "encirclement and suppression" carefully arranged by Chiang Kai-shek ended in a fiasco.
After the Red Army's victory in the fourth anti-"encirclement and suppression" campaign, the Central Soviet Region had more than 30 counties, spanning 50,000 square kilometers of land in Jiangxi, Fujian, Hunan, and Guangdong provinces, with a population of nearly 3 million, and the main force of the Red Army expanded to nearly 100,000 people, and the development of the Central Soviet Region entered its heyday.

The Central Military Commission of the Central Revolution issued a general order, announcing that Comrade Mao Zedong had been appointed as the General Political Commissar of the First Front Army of the Red Army by order of the Central Government. In accordance with the spirit of the National Rejuvenation Conference of the Central Bureau of the Soviet District of the Communist Party of China, the Central Military Commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China issued a military instruction on launching the Le'an and Yihuang campaigns. It was decided to use the Red 1st, 3rd, and 5th Army Corps as the main combat army, first to destroy the enemy entrenched in Le'an and Yihuang, and then to threaten and seize the central cities in the Ganjiang and Fuhe River valleys.
The 27th Division of the enemy of Le'an and Yihuang is Sun Lianzhong's 26th Route Army Gao Shuxun Division.

The main garrison of the Red 5th Army Corps was Chitou. In the evening, the team directly under the command convened a meeting of party activists to convey the resolution of the CPC Central Committee on the five "encirclement and suppression" campaigns.
The main force of the Eastern Army controlled the vicinity of Liancheng, covered the attack of the 34th Red Division on Miaoqian, and restored Xinquan so that it could move to the Hangzhou, Yong, and Yan areas.

The Red 34th Division garrisoned the highland area from the southern end of Siling Pai to the incense burner village and the northern end of Yuantou. With a crack battalion to hold the incense burner village, with a local counter-assault to destroy the attacking enemy, the main force of the division gathered near the bamboo head platoon, built the outer trench of the fulcrum of Guifeng Village, and the commando team installed mines in the ditch.
The Red 13th Division was garrisoned in He Yuan. There has been no heavy rain in the month, and it is a futian day, the climate is very dry, and the recuperation is not thorough, and the number of patients has increased recently. As far as the radio station is concerned, two people in charge are sick, and the other cadres of the regiments, companies and platoons are also sick from time to time. The units directly under the division and the 39th Regiment held a "meeting to support the Red Army's anti-Japanese advance team to go north to resist Japan." Chen Bojun made a report on "How Should We Cooperate with the Anti-Japanese Advance Team in Practical Actions?"
Dong Zhentang and Zhu Rui led the army headquarters in Muxie and sent a reconnaissance company to operate west of the goose pit.

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Central Military Commission made adjustments to the left and right route armies in order to quickly move north and achieve the goal of the "Xiatao Campaign Plan." The 5th, 9th, 31st, 32nd, and 33rd armies in Zhuokeji and the areas south of Zhuokeji were the left route armies, with Zhu De as the commander-in-chief, Zhang Guotao as the political commissar, and Liu Bocheng as the chief of staff. With the 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 30th armies in the Maoergai area as the right route army, Xu Xiang was the commander-in-chief, Chen Changhao was the political commissar, and Ye Jianying was the chief of staff. The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China acted with the Right Route Army.
The Military Commission decided that the Red 1st and 3rd Armies would reinstate the Red 1st and 3rd Army Corps, and the commanders and political commissars of the 1st Army Corps were still Lin Biao and Nie Rongzhen; The commander of the 3rd Army Corps was still Peng Dehuai, and the political commissar was succeeded by Li Fuchun.
The 1st and 3rd Army Corps assembled in the area of the Heishui River to rest and stand by. The column of the Military Commission remained in Maoergai.
The 5th Red Army, the 93rd Division of the 31st Army, and the 25th Division of the 9th Army assembled in the vicinity of Malkang, Matang, and Dazang Temple.
