In the first men's four-person kayak 500m heats, the Chinese team consisting of Bu Tingkai, Wang Congkang, Zhang Dong and Dong Yi came out in the fifth lane of the second group, finishing fifth in the group with a time of 1:25.00, 4.49 seconds behind the first-place Germany, and failed to reach the semifinals. In the subsequent quarter-finals, the results of the seven teams were relatively close, and in the end, the Chinese team finished in 1:21.31, 1.92 seconds behind the first-place Australia team, won the seventh place, was eliminated from the semi-finals.
In the women's four-person kayak 500m preliminaries, the Chinese team composed of Wang Nan, Li Dongyun, Yin Mengdie, and Sun Yuewen won the third place in the group with a time of 1:33.64, and went straight to the Group A final that will be held on the evening of the 8th.
In the men's double canoe 500m preliminaries, the Chinese combination Liu Hao/Ji Bowen ranked second in the first half, and with the second half of the race, they crossed the line first with a time of 1:37.40, and set a new Olympic best result (there is no Olympic record for the canoe sprint event, only the best Olympic result), and went straight to the semi-finals on the afternoon of the 8th.
In the women's double canoe 500m preliminaries, the defending champion and Chinese pair Xu Shixiao/Sun Mengya led the way, setting a new Olympic best time with a time of 1:54.45 and winning the first place in the group, and went straight to the semifinals on the afternoon of the 9th. However, their Olympic best was soon slightly improved by the next group of Canada.
In the men's double kayak 500m preliminaries, the Chinese pair Bu Tingkai/Zhang Dong competed again after the four-person event, winning the fourth place in the group with a time of 1:36.79, more than 8 seconds behind the first place, and entered the quarterfinals. In the quarter-finals, they finished fifth with a time of 1:29.58 and were eliminated.
In the women's double kayak 500m preliminaries, the Chinese combination Yu Shimeng/Chen Yule won the second place in the group with a time of 1:42.70 and went straight to the semifinals on the afternoon of the 9th.
