Since 2020, Audemars Piguet has launched the REMaster collection, which recreates and launches famous vintage watches from history with today's technology. The first REMaster 01 of 2020 is a replica of an antique chronograph from 1943, while this year's REMaster 02 is a replica of Audemars Piguet's 1960 special look 5159.

5159/REMaster 02 is a masterpiece of "Brutalism". The case is wide, with a large number of chamfers, a sapphire crystal, and a polygonal slope is also made. Compared to the antique prototype 5159, the lugs of the new REMaster 02 are significantly wider. The case of the REMaster 02 is polished with a large area of brushed wire on the front and sides of the case, only one circumference of the bezel. With a lot of brushing, it looks more modern than the fully polished case of the antique prototype. Although the case of the REMaster 02 is asymmetrical, Audemars Piguet is marked with a size of 41 mm and a thickness of 9.7 mm.

The dial of the REMaster 02 is divided into 12 sections. Each part is a separate piece, and then one by one. The blue color of the disc is the same as that of the first generation of the 1972 Royal Oak 5402, with a sunburst decoration. 12 dividing lines, which also serve as hour markers. The REMaster 02 uses the Audemars Piguet 7129 automatic calibre, a branch of the new generation 7121 automatic calibre. Audemars Piguet uses the 7121/7129 calibre on the REMaster 02, which is very good and very correct. Because the 7121 calibre is a direct descendant of the Audemars Piguet Caliber 2121 (i.e. JaeCoultre 920), Audemars Piguet has been using the 2121 calibre since the 70s of the last century, and upgraded to the new generation 7121 in 2022. The look of the REMaster 02's vintage watch, combined with the direct descendants of the antique movement, is a perfect match. The REMaster 01 is equipped with a modern 4400 series chronograph movement, which is not as good as the combination of the REMaster 02 and the 7121 movement.

The new generation of the 7121 automatic calibre is not an improvement of the 2121 calibre, but a complete redesign of the movement board. The 2121 calibre did not have the problems of fast calendar adjustment, short power and low pendulum frequency, all of which were solved, and still maintained an ultra-thin thickness of 3.2 mm (the 2121 calibre is 3.05 mm thick), with an oscillation frequency of 28,800 beats per hour and a power of 55 hours.

Audemars Piguet's new generation of automatic calibre 7121 is an outstanding design. The movement train surrounds the edge parts of the mainplate, leaving room for the central rotor to reduce the thickness. The use of a large barrel with a barrel half the diameter of the movement increases power and movement torque, and powerfully supports calendar moments. The new free-carding weights are embedded in the balance wheel to reduce the thickness. The balance spring outer pile is not on the balance, but an independent clamp is made separately next to it as the balance spring outer pile to facilitate the disassembly and assembly of the balance and facilitate maintenance.

In terms of movement decoration, Audemars Piguet could not bear the Poinçon de Genève because the Manufacture was not in Geneva. But Audemars Piguet's movement decoration is exactly the same level as Patek Philippe's PP imprint and Vacheron Constantin's Poinçon de Genève. To complement the asymmetrical case of the REMaster 02, the movement also uses an irregularly skeletonized aindiary oscillating weight.
