On the morning of August 3, the unveiling ceremony of the Chinese Arts and Crafts Masters Inheritance and Innovation Base and the new product launch of "Magnolia" were held in Fengjing Town.
"China Arts and Crafts Masters Inheritance and Innovation Base College" is a national cooperation project selected by the China Light Industry Federation in 2019, and is one of the highest-level scientific research platforms in the field of arts and crafts. After strict selection, Jinshan Silk Carpet Factory was successfully approved, which is an important breakthrough in the process of inheritance and innovation of Jinshan Silk Carpet.
"As a national project, it is not easy for Jinshan Silk Carpet Factory to obtain such an honor." Cheng Meihua, a master of Chinese arts and crafts and director of Jinshan Silk Carpet Factory, told reporters that the approved universities are generally well-known domestic universities, such as China Academy of Art, Sichuan Fine Arts Institute and other high-level professional colleges, or Tongji University, Nanjing University of the Arts and other comprehensive colleges. "These colleges and universities have a deep academic accumulation and extensive social influence in the field of arts and crafts, and it is a great affirmation for us to be among them."
Jinshan Silk Carpet Factory was established in 1986, mainly producing art tapestries, knotted carpets, portrait carpets, etc. Different from other silk carpets, all products of Jinshan Silk Carpet Factory are hand-woven and use the best natural silk as raw materials.
Due to the unique craftsmanship, as early as the nineties of the last century, the silk carpets produced here have been collected by the United States Art Center, UNICEF, United States National Art Museum, National Museum of China and other venues, and have won many awards such as the "Gold Award" of the Hundred Flowers Award, the "Gold Award" of the National Craftsman Cup, the "Gold Award" of the Golden Phoenix, the "Hundred Crane Award" of the Hundred Crane Cup, and the "Art Gold Award" of Sino-Japanese cultural exchange activities.
In recent years, on the one hand, Jinshan Silk Carpet Factory has maintained its own characteristics, and on the other hand, with the strong support of the local government, it has continuously dug deep into the regional characteristic culture and intangible cultural heritage, actively innovated, and constantly made new breakthroughs. This time, it was awarded the "China Arts and Crafts Master Inheritance and Innovation Base College", relying on the deep accumulation of Jinshan Silk Carpet Factory in arts and crafts for a long time.
It is understood that Cheng Meihua, the director of the factory, is a master of Chinese arts and crafts, a person of the year who moved Shanghai in 2023, the first Shanghai craftsman, and a municipal intangible cultural heritage inheritor. There are also 1 Shanghai Arts and Crafts Master, 1 Shanghai New Master, and 3 Chief Technicians in the team, which is strong.
Since 2018, Jinshan Silk Carpet Factory has also transformed the old workshop into an "intangible cultural heritage protection and inheritance base" and a "social research and practice education base". During this period, Cheng Meihua developed a "digital movable machine", which miniaturized the traditional machine that was originally more than 2 meters high to the size of an A4 paper, which lowered the threshold of silk carpet skills and made it more convenient for students and other enthusiasts to get close, experience and learn the traditional skills of silk carpet weaving.
In addition, Cheng Meihua cooperated with Shanghai Zhongqiao Polytechnic University to open a window of art for students through "master lectures", which aroused strong responses.
What is eye-catching is that the "Magnolia" art tapestry work released on the day of the event integrates new processes such as weaving, weaving, plate, pulling, knotting, and hooking, and innovatively breaks the traditional monochrome system, integrates the purple gradient tone, and reproduces the brilliant pattern of magnolia, presenting a design form of a hundred flowers blooming and flowers in flowers.
The work stood out in the 4th Arts and Crafts Fair and won the "Hundred Crane Golden Tripod Award", and only two works in Shanghai won the award.
"We will do our best to pass on the weaving skills of Jinshan silk carpet to more people, so that they can understand and master this traditional craft. At the same time, in the integration of culture and tourism to carry out research and creative activities, the traditional arts and crafts and modern design concepts combined, the introduction of more creative and market competitiveness works, to promote the innovation and development of traditional arts and crafts to contribute. Cheng Meihua said at the unveiling ceremony on the same day.
The listing ceremony not only injected new vitality into the development of Jinshan silk carpet, but also provided a new direction and opportunity for the development of Jinshan arts and crafts.
