Guangdong's foreign trade "report card" in the first three quarters of this year was released. According to the statistics of the Guangdong Branch of the General Administration of Customs, in the first three quarters of 2021, Guangdong's foreign trade imports and exports were 6.03 trillion yuan, an increase of 18.6% year-on-year, an average growth of 8% in two years, accounting for 21.3% of China's total import and export value in the same period. Among them, exports were 3.68 trillion yuan, an increase of 19.3%,; imports were 2.35 trillion yuan, an increase of 17.5%.

According to customs analysis, Guangdong's foreign trade imports and exports in the first three quarters continued to maintain rapid growth, resilience is sufficient, stable and improved quality, and it is expected that the overall foreign trade throughout the year is expected to maintain a rapid growth trend.

Imports, exports and exports hit a record monthly high in September

In September this year, Guangdong's imports and exports were 784.14 billion yuan, an increase of 12.1%; exports were 494.54 billion yuan, an increase of 20.6%. Both figures hit record monthly highs.

While the scale of exports continues to expand, the commodity structure is also continuously optimized, and high-tech "intelligent manufacturing" products are more favored. At the just-concluded 130th Canton Fair, the world's first OD Zero Mini LED smart screen brought by TCL attracted the attention of many buyers. This product is not only the world's thinnest Mini LED smart screen, but also equipped with the world's most Mini LED chips. "In the first half of the year, TCL's global sales reached 11.27 million units, an increase of 12% year-on-year, ranking in the top three in terms of shipments and market share in the global TV market." The relevant person in charge of TCL said.

Represented by TCL, Guangdong's exports of mechanical and electrical products continued to grow. In the first three quarters, Guangdong exported mechanical and electrical products of 2.52 trillion yuan, an increase of 20.8%, accounting for 0.9 percentage points to 68.6%. Among them, the export of household appliances was 245.57 billion yuan, an increase of 18.7%; automatic data processing equipment and its parts and components were 234.41 billion yuan, an increase of 19.4%; electrical equipment was 223.56 billion yuan, an increase of 22.4%.

The global epidemic is still continuing, the international economic and geopolitical environment has undergone major changes, and the secret of "Guangdong Intelligent Manufacturing" exports lies in the long-term accumulation of scientific and technological innovation.

Among them, the competitiveness of private entities has been continuously enhanced. In the first three quarters, the import and export of private enterprises in Guangdong was 3.43 trillion yuan, an increase of 21.9%, accounting for 1.6 percentage points to 56.9% compared with the same period last year. In the same period, the import and export of foreign-invested enterprises was 2.27 trillion yuan, an increase of 14.8%, accounting for 37.7%; state-owned enterprises were 310.76 billion yuan, an increase of 13.4%, accounting for 5.2%.

"Chinese companies are leading more and more innovations, driving the global industrial chain forward." Zhang Yifei, deputy director of the overseas marketing module of Guangdong Xinbao Electric Appliance Co., Ltd., said that innovation brings efficiency, and the company has achieved the goal of increasing production efficiency by 20% every 3 years through "intelligent manufacturing".

In addition, in the first three quarters, Guangdong's imports and exports to the top five major trading partners maintained double-digit growth. Among them, the import and export of ASEAN, the largest trading partner, was 908.37 billion yuan, an increase of 17.4%, and the import and export of the United States and the European Union increased by 16.3% and 20% respectively.

Exports of market procurement increased by 23.2%

New formats such as cross-border e-commerce and market procurement have flourished, becoming a new driving force for the growth of Guangdong's foreign trade, and the foreign trade structure has been continuously optimized. In the first three quarters, Guangdong's general trade import and export was 3.16 trillion yuan, an increase of 20.4%, accounting for 0.8 percentage points to 52.4% compared with the same period last year. The import and export of processing trade was 1.6 trillion yuan, an increase of 16.4%, accounting for 26.5%. Bonded logistics was 947.89 billion yuan, an increase of 17.4%, accounting for 15.7%.

From the perspective of the development of new formats, the development of cross-border e-commerce in Guangdong has always been at the forefront of the country, and cross-border e-commerce imports and exports have ranked first in the country for seven consecutive years. As of the first three quarters of this year, Guangdong has a total of 13 cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zones, located in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Zhuhai, Shantou and other places, ranking first in the country. This year, Guangdong will also add a number of cross-border e-commerce comprehensive test areas to achieve coverage of the whole territory of the province.

In addition, in the first three quarters of this year, the market procurement export was 278.61 billion yuan, an increase of 23.2%. Since the launch of Guangdong's first market procurement trade pilot in March 2017, this new format has rapidly integrated with the local market and driven the development of the international market with a high level of convenience. Especially since the outbreak of the new crown epidemic, market procurement has gradually become a powerful engine to promote the steady growth of foreign trade, helping domestic trade professional market players to carry out international trade and open up domestic and international double circulation.

Taking the Guangzhou Customs Customs District, which accounts for more than 30% of the national market procurement exports, as an example, the scale of market procurement and exports in the customs area has increased by 2.6 times in four years. Since the beginning of this year, the guangzhou Huadu leather goods market and the Asian international furniture materials trading center in the customs area have added more than 4,000 new market procurement merchants and about 500 new foreign trade enterprises in the pilot procurement trade mode.

Imports of raw materials and energy are growing rapidly

Despite the steady growth momentum of foreign trade and the continuous emergence of new momentum, the impact of the epidemic has led to the obstruction of international supply chains, and the rising cost of raw materials, energy and commodities.

In the first three quarters, imported iron ore and its concentrate amounted to 36.97 billion yuan, an increase of 63.2%; coal and lignite 23.58 billion yuan, an increase of 64.2%; natural gas 11.44 billion yuan, an increase of 72.3%; grain 20.46 billion yuan, an increase of 27.1%. This not only reflects the strong production demand and good order expectations of Guangdong's manufacturing industry, but also reflects to a certain extent that enterprises are facing challenges such as raw materials and energy shortages.

Zhang Yifei said frankly that under the influence of the epidemic, the price of raw materials has risen, increasing the operating pressure of small and medium-sized micro suppliers; and due to various factors, upstream small and medium-sized micro suppliers cannot respond in a timely and flexible manner in the short term, resulting in operational difficulties, thus affecting the product production cycle of downstream terminal manufacturers. "At this time, coupled with the decline in international transportation efficiency and the rise in freight rates, many enterprises are forced to extend the delivery cycle."

Imports of key components needed by manufacturing industries such as chips have also continued to grow. In the first three quarters, Guangdong imported 1.57 trillion yuan of mechanical and electrical products, an increase of 13.2%, of which integrated circuits were 793.51 billion yuan, an increase of 20.6%, accounting for 33.8% of Guangdong's total import value.

"It is expected that Guangdong's foreign trade throughout the year is expected to maintain a rapid growth trend." Customs analysis pointed out that in the first three quarters of this year, Guangdong coordinated the prevention and control of the epidemic and economic and social development, the economy continued to recover and develop, and the import and export of foreign trade continued to maintain rapid growth, with sufficient resilience and steady quality. However, it should be noted that the global epidemic is fluctuating, the world economy is recovering in difficulty, the external environment is becoming more complex and severe, and there are still many unstable and uncertain factors facing the development of Guangdong's foreign trade.

Customs provides convenient services for enterprises to expand into both international and domestic markets

On the one hand, stabilize overseas orders, and expand the domestic market with the other hand

Guangdong's foreign trade momentum in the first three quarters was good, and more and more enterprises stabilized overseas orders on the one hand and expanded the domestic market on the other. "During the 5-day offline exhibition of the 130th Canton Fair, we received the calls for domestic sales from 400 enterprises in one go." Xu Yue, deputy director of the Guangzhou Convention and Exhibition Center, which belongs to Guangzhou Customs, told reporters.

Feng Tao, marketing director of Guangzhou Mona Lisa Sanitary Ware Co., Ltd., is one of the "most vocal" members: "While stabilizing overseas orders, we also want to expand more into the domestic market." ”

In the past two years, the global epidemic has caused a serious impact on international trade, subject to the production of raw materials and finished products "two ends outside", processing trade enterprises are facing a sharp increase in raw material prices, exchange rate fluctuations, international freight rates and other pressures, have transformed to find domestic market opportunities.

"Under the new development pattern, we are exploring how to better integrate domestic channel market resources." Lin Gangpeng, regional director of brand sales of Guangdong Lingfeng Household Products Co., Ltd., said that foreign trade enterprises do overseas orders, generally only responsible for production and processing, not responsible for distribution channels, and now the transformation and expansion of the domestic market is facing great challenges. At the same time, the brand awareness of many export brands in the domestic market is not high, "it is necessary to use more online and offline marketing methods to meet the needs of the domestic market in order to gain the favor of consumers in the fierce competition." ”

Customs is making every effort to provide targeted and convenient services for enterprises to expand into domestic and international markets. In response to the needs of 400 enterprises, Guangzhou Customs contacted key buyers, built a supply and demand docking platform, guided enterprises to quickly apply for and handle export to domestic sales procedures, and at the same time applied for domestic sales centralized tax payment qualifications according to the application of enterprises, so that enterprises no longer need to "pay a single tax for each domestic sales order". According to Guangzhou Customs statistics, as of the beginning of October this year, the customs has handled domestic sales procedures for 866 processing trade enterprises, with the value of domestic goods increasing by 3% year-on-year, and the import and export value of processing trade increasing by 24.9% year-on-year.
