Promoting rural revitalization is the fundamental way to realize the modernization of agriculture and rural areas, an important foundation for promoting urbanization at the county level, and an important part of realizing Chinese-style modernization. Based on this, the Western China Development Report (2024) takes "Rural Revitalization Path and Policy in Western China" as the research theme, aiming to summarize the achievements of rural revitalization in the western region, analyze the problems and difficulties faced, explore the goals, key tasks and implementation paths of further development, and provide decision-making reference for further promoting rural revitalization in the western region.

The Western China Development Report (2024) is divided into three sections: the general report, the special study on rural revitalization in the western region, and the provincial rural revitalization research in the western region. Among them, the general report mainly summarizes the effectiveness and existing problems of the high-quality economic development of the western region in 2023, analyzes the main difficulties faced by the high-quality economic development of the western region in 2024, predicts the main economic goals, and puts forward the main tasks and policy recommendations for the high-quality economic development of the western region in 2024. On the basis of the overall analysis and study of the difficulties, goals and realization paths of rural revitalization in the western region, the special research on rural revitalization in the western region analyzes and studies the effectiveness, existing problems, main goals and realization paths of rural revitalization in the western region from five aspects: industrial revitalization, talent revitalization, cultural revitalization, ecological revitalization and organizational revitalization. The research on provincial rural revitalization in the western region mainly summarizes the effectiveness of rural revitalization in 12 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) in the western region from the provincial level, analyzes the existing problems and difficulties, puts forward the main goals and tasks of rural revitalization in each province (autonomous region and municipality), and puts forward the path and policy suggestions for achieving the goals.

In the roundtable forum on the development of western China, Bai Yongxiu, director of the Rural Revitalization Strategy Research Center of Northwest University and professor of the School of Economics and Management of Northwest University, Wang Xiaolin, executive director of the Shanghai (Fudan University) Cooperative Development Research Center and executive director of the Sixth Industry Research Institute of Fudan University, Qiao Guanghua, dean of the School of Economics and Management of Inner Mongolia Agricultural University, Liu Jiang, secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Finance and Taxation of Lanzhou University of Finance and Economics, Yang Awei, deputy dean of the School of Finance and Economics of Tibet University, Yue Liping, deputy dean of the School of Economics and Management of Northwest University, Tang Yong, deputy director of the Department of Economics of the School of Economics of Sichuan University, and other experts exchanged and discussed the theme of "Forming a New Pattern of Western Development and Rural Revitalization in the Western Region".

It is reported that the "Report on the Development of Western China" (Western Blue Book) is an annual thematic research report jointly written by experts and scholars from the National Institute of Economic Development of Western China, Northwest University, a key research base of humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education, and published by the Social Sciences Academic Press.
