Blinken's trip to Mongolia was slapped in the face, whether the needle is aimed at China or not, Washington no longer dares to tell the truth

On July 24, United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken began his more than week-long trip to Asia. Over the past few years, he has visited Viet Nam, Laos, Japan, the Philippines and Singapore before finally arriving in Mongolia, the last leg of his trip, on August 1.

It is not difficult to see that Blinken's trip almost circled around China, five of the six countries he visited were China's neighbors, and he met with India's Foreign Minister S Jaishankar twice in Vientiane, Laos and Tokyo, Japan, and he met with the foreign ministers of China's neighbors in the southeast and northwest directions almost in a week.

Looking back at Blinken's remarks and topics during his visits to various countries, it is not difficult to see that China is with us. China appears in the statements of Blinken and his foreign ministers under various names, sometimes as a so-called "destabilizing factor in the region" and sometimes as "the main culprit in unilaterally changing the situation in the region".

During the visit to Mongolia, although he and Mongolia did not mention China "quite tacitly", Blinken still could not avoid the topic of China at the subsequent press conference.

During the question-and-answer session, a reporter from the New York Times challenged Blinken, citing a series of United States administration's policies aimed at containing China's development, and asked Blinken: "Do you have any convincing arguments to prove that United States is not trying to contain or suppress China's rise?" ”

This issue is indeed very embarrassing for the US side, and the source of the embarrassment is that almost the whole world knows that United States is using almost all the means at its disposal to contain China, but it is not clear for the sake of face, and this question from United States reporter directly tore off the mask of United States, which made Blinken very embarrassed.

There are two root causes for Blinken's embarrassment. The first is the current misalignment of United States's role in the international arena; United States has long played the role of world policeman and "leader of the free world" in the international arena, known as the "beacon of democracy." However, since the beginning of the new century, as it has become more and more difficult to maintain its hegemonic status, it has also begun to violate its own "universal values" and use extreme means to curb the development of other countries more and more frequently.

The second is the practical action level. Even in the case of Blinken's trip to Asia, it would be absolute nonsense to say that he is not aimed at China at all, but it is better to say that the most important purpose of Blinken's trip is to target China.

In the past week or so, Blinken and United States Secretary of Defense Austin have participated in the corresponding "2+2" dialogue meetings in Japan and the Philippines, actively discussing military cooperation, actively provoking the situation around China, and fanning the flames on security issues.

As for Mongolia, although considering the special geographical location of Mongolia countries, the Mongolia caught between China and Russia cannot directly declare a military alliance with United States and adopt any policy against China, Blinken still actively adopts a "roundabout strategy" to expand United States's influence in the region through cooperation in minerals and English education, and tries to use Mongolia's "third ally" strategy to "lay mines" for China.

However, the United States reporter's question also revealed a truth, that is, the current policy of containing China implemented by the United States is unpopular.

When it comes to China, the United States top brass itself knows very well that its so-called "China threat theory" and the corresponding containment policy against China do not conform to the so-called "universal values" that it boasts about, but that the diplomatic concept of independence, mutual benefit and win-win cooperation that China has always pursued is more popular.

This has left the United States government's foreign policy in a "self-proof dilemma," in which the United States is unable to link its actions to the values it promotes. And under such a "self-proof problem", the United States has also begun to lose more and more support in the international community.

At the Sino-US Alaska Dialogue two years ago, the Chinese top level gave the US side a piece of advice, that is, the United States is not qualified to speak to China from a position of strength. Today, two years later, Blinken also remembered this sentence when answering reporters' questions, saying that "United States should participate in the Sino-US competition from the perspective of strength and confidence."

It can be seen that Blinken hopes to cheer up himself and his supporters in the United States through such remarks, but in the current situation, the decline of United States' foreign policy is no longer something that Blinken can save by shouting a few slogans.
