Large-scale Kunqu opera epic "Flying to Luding Bridge"
"Flying to capture the Luding Bridge" was one of the important battles on the way of the Long March. In May 1935, Chiang Kai-shek mobilized more than 100,000 troops from the Central Army and the Sichuan Army to intercept the Red Army at the Dadu River, in a vain attempt to make the Red Army repeat the mistakes of Shi Dakai of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom. At that time, the situation was very critical, the Red Army had only a small boat with a capacity of a dozen people, and it took a month for a large army to cross the river on it! And if the Red Army does not take the Luding Bridge 320 miles away within 72 hours, it will be divided and surrounded by the enemy by the Dadu River, and the consequences will be unimaginable! It's a battle to the death! The Red Army soldiers were divided into two routes: the First Division of the First Red Army Corps and the cadres and regiments of the Military Commission, which crossed the Dadu River to the east bank and were the right column, and the Second Division of the Red First Army Corps and the Red Fifth Army Corps were the left column, marching north from the west bank and seizing the Luding Bridge between the left and right banks. With an incomparably tenacious revolutionary spirit, the Red Army overcame unimaginable difficulties, and within 72 hours, the soldiers forcibly marched for 320 miles, and the flying soldiers captured the Luding Bridge, opening a new channel for our army to rush across the Dadu River!
