The Woman Who Ran Away

This year's Berlin Film Festival is the first year that new artistic director Carlo Chatrian has taken office, and his first fire is to "snatch" the berlin main competition, two French directors who can be called "Cannes", Abel Ferrara and Philippe Garrell.
After 15 years, Ferrara returned to Berlin for the second time. The new work "Siberia" is Ferrara's ninth collaboration with her favorite actor William Dafoe. Since the two first joined hands in 1998, they have dedicated countless masterpieces, and the highest peak must be the restoration of the original work of the same name on the last day of the famous Italian director Pasolini's life. Contrary to Ferrara's preference for the black genre, the works of the duo in recent years, from "Piazza Vittorio" to "Tommaso", are full of strong sense of death, nostalgia and life. Salt of Tears
It is hard to imagine that "Salt of Tears" is the 28th film of PhilipPe Garrell's career as a director, but it is his first guest appearance at the Berlin Film Festival. While not continuing to let his sons and daughters play the lead role and choose a new generation of young actors, Carlo Chatrian, the festival's director, said philip Garrell's sincere expression of personal emotions in the film was more than usual.

Although Chinese films do not have much style in the main competition unit of Berlin this year (Cai Liangliang's "Days" has no dialogue throughout), jia Zhangke alone brushed up on the sense of existence in other units at all levels. His new film and documentary work "Swim Until the Sea Turns Blue" was selected for the special screening unit. This on-screen oral history of Jia Pingwa, Yu Hua, Su Tong, Liang Hong and other famous writers focuses on the 1970s and presents an intellectual's tracing of the fate of his homeland. In the forum section, there is also a movie directed by Song Fang and starring Qi Xi, "Calm", produced by Jia Zhangke.

This music-based science fiction film,"From Beginning to End, Just One Man," was the last project of Icelandic music maestro Johansson. After his untimely death, he served as a soundtrack for many works such as "Advent", "TheOry of Everything", "Border Killer", "The Handmaid's Tale" and Lou Ye's director "Clouds Made of Rain in the Wind", and was nominated for two Oscars, almost single-handedly realizing the change in the direction of Hollywood soundtracks, and is also a signed musician of the famous classical music label Deutsche Organ.

"Hillary"
Although the berlinale has always been less popular than Cannes and Venice, and the short red carpet is far less lively than the Oscars, which are similar in time, the Berlin Film Festival, which has always been a political leader, always has heavy guests.
