Xu Junhao is 41 years old this year, and many people remember him as the handsome singer who sang "Youth Commemorative Album". From Taipei to Chengdu, from singer to dentist, Xu Junhao's life turn is not insignificant. The story of this young Taiwanese man studying and starting a business in Chengdu is a portrayal of the young people in Taiwan seeking development on the mainland, and it is also a witness to the deepening of cross-strait exchanges over the years.
In 2003, Xu Junhao was accidentally injured in a rehearsal, and his father, who opened an oral clinic, encouraged him to re-enter medical school. "It's hard to decide to continue reading, it's hard to think for yourself." In the end, Xu Junhao decided to withdraw from the entertainment industry and participate in the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan joint examination. In 2004, he was admitted to the West China School of Stomatology of Sichuan University.
"Nobody believed I was going to be a professional dentist." Recalling the past, Xu Junhao's expression was solemn. During his 7 years in Huaxiba, he "hid", did not talk about his previous experiences, and only wanted to finish his studies. In 2011, Xu Junhao successfully graduated and continued to study for a master's degree in stomatology in Germany. In 2015, he was admitted as a practicing physician in mainland China and chose to return to Chengdu to start a business.
Why Chengdu? Xu Junhao said: "Choosing a city for development depends on whether the development and planning here will help you and what you can contribute. In his view, the familiar Chengdu, as a new first-tier city, has developed rapidly, and the Huitai policy is also full of encouragement for Taiwanese entrepreneurs.
But there are always twists and turns on the road to entrepreneurship. Xu Junhao recalled that at the beginning, patients only came to the clinic to wash their teeth, and the number of patients did not increase for a long time. After summarizing and reflecting, he found that the problem was communication. "For example, filling teeth, Chengdu people mean that missing teeth should be filled, but my understanding is to fill caries." Xu Junhao said that after that, he became more grounded, thinking from the perspective of Chengdu people, and slowly established a good doctor-patient relationship.
5 years of time is like a white colt crossing the gap. Today, Xu Junhao's dental clinic has a good reputation in Chengdu and an ever-expanding patient base. 72-year-old Chen Lanying often came to see the teeth, and when she talked about Dr. Xu, her words were full of praise, "Dr. Xu is not only highly skilled, but also very patient, always smiling and squinting, and our whole family is here to see the teeth!" ”

At the beginning of February this year, the mainland's new crown pneumonia epidemic was serious, and Xu Junhao, who was worried about his patients, decided to return to the mainland early for the Spring Festival in Taipei. He flew from Taipei to Seoul and then returned to Chengdu after another flight. "Many patients have not finished treatment, what about their pain? I could only communicate with them in Taiwan, and I was uneasy, and when I returned to Chengdu, I could at least mail medicines and braces. ”
At present, Xu Junhao's dental clinic has been resuming work for a long time, and he is busy with Taiwanese doctor Huang Xinjie. Huang Xinjie said that after coming to Sichuan for more than two years, the enthusiasm of the locals, the working environment and the perfect Huitai policy were the reasons why he "couldn't go away".
It is understood that according to the relevant policies of the "70 Articles of Sichuan and Taiwan", Taiwanese physicians who have obtained the legal medical qualification in Taiwan can apply for registration in Sichuan in accordance with relevant regulations for a period of 3 years, and can re-register after the expiration of the period. According to data provided by the Sichuan Provincial Health Commission, as of the end of 2019, a total of 163 Taiwanese physicians had obtained mainland medical qualifications in Sichuan, and 6 Taiwanese doctors had carried out short-term medical practice in Sichuan.
