Roy was selected by the Timberwolves with the 6th pick in the first round at the 2006 draft and was subsequently traded to the Blazers, where he played for both the Blazers and the Timberwolves in his career.

Affected by a knee injury, Roy announced his retirement in 2011 at the age of 27, and although he returned the following year, he had to retire again after five games due to injuries.

Roy played in 326 regular-season games in his career, averaging 18.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.03 steals in 35.5 minutes per game.
