On August 1, 2023, on the occasion of the 96th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, the Heroes Square of the Jinan Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery was solemn and full of true feelings. Zhang Zhenjiang, who was the former head of the Propaganda Department of the Jinan Military Region, is a "young veteran" whose nearly 40 years of military experience have forged his profound feelings for his family and country. As the head of the lecturer group, he took the stage to receive the banner of the "Shining Red Star Lecturer Group" at the inauguration ceremony of the flag.

Educated by the party and the army for many years, Zhang Zhenjiang has a deep red cultural complex. He devoted a lot of time to learning and promoting the spirit of Lei Feng and the red culture. In the course of propaganda and practice, Zhang Zhenjiang felt the problem of insufficient teachers and few activities in national defense education in society. After communicating with several old comrades-in-arms, they all felt the same way. With a sacred mission, we decided to set up a propaganda team to publicize red culture and popularize national defense knowledge to the society.

The name "Shining Red Star" comes from their inspiration, "Our generation is very familiar with the movie "Shining Red Star" and has a deep and simple complex; These words have a dynamic sense of red star shining brightly, full of inspiring power; The important thing is that 'a red star is worn on the head, and the revolutionary red flag is hung on both sides' was a distinctive symbol of the revolutionary soldiers of those years. After discussion, the lecturer group was officially named after it.

The shining Red Star Lecturer Group, approved by the Jinan Veterans Affairs Bureau and the Shandong Provincial Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Ministry of Veterans Affairs and the Veterans Service Center, was honorably selected into the "Chinese Veterans Care Youth Volunteer Service Project" last year, becoming a veritable "national team" on the red cultural propaganda front.

Lu Xiuru is the former head of the mobilization department of the Jinan Military Region Command, and is currently the vice president of the Sun Tzu Research Association, who has published 16 books. Liu Peng is a professor at the former Jinan Military Region Comprehensive Training Base, one of the first batch of experts in the national defense education database, and an expert in the national defense education teacher pool in Shandong Province. Yu Yongjun is the former deputy director of the Work Department directly under the Jinan Military Region Command, a member of the Chinese Writers Association, and a director of the China Military Culture Research Association. Wang Peizuo has worked in the political organs of the former Jinan Military Region and Shandong Provincial Military Region for many years, and he has been awarded second-class meritorious service on the battlefield and has written a lot of personal works; Hu Qingyi served as the political commissar of the comprehensive training base of the military region, and he grasped speeches like a fish in water; Su Jin used to be the president of "Shandong National Defense News", writing and speaking at the same time, handy; Xia Zongchang used to be the director and deputy commander of the Political Department of the Shangqiu Military Region in Henan Province, and recently published a new work "Chasing 100,000 Miles"; Tian Zhaoguang used to be the director of the propaganda department of the group army and the editor of the Qianwei newspaper of the military region, and is now employed as the party building instructor of the Party Working Committee of Jinan High-tech Zone. At Jinan Sunshine 100 Primary School, Zhang Zhenjiang shared Lei Feng's story with the children, and the vivid examples made the children listen to them. When it comes to Lei Feng becoming an orphan at the age of 7, one day when he went up the mountain to chop firewood, he was robbed of firewood by the landlord's wife, and the back of his left hand was slashed three times in a row, and blood dripped down his fingers on the mountain road...... In the cold spring of 2022, Xia Zongchang, who has been in the army for 36 years and has rich experience in ideological and political work, set off from Quancheng and drove on the road alone, deciding to follow the red footprints and carry forward the revolutionary spirit. The third Saturday of September every year is designated as National Defense Education Day for the whole people, and the "People's Republic of China Patriotic Education Law" came into force on 1 January this year.
