The latest generation of the Berlingo family and multipurpose vans was introduced a few years ago. Then, in 2022, there was news that it would be sold exclusively in an electric version, which is not yet perfect in terms of battery size and range. The burning version was canceled, and sales showed that it was not a good move. Now that this model has returned in the form of a diesel version, this step will be its salvation.
Berlingo, in particular, has undergone a modernization, which undoubtedly adds to its beauty. The front part is the same as the new-generation C3 model, which is certainly not a bad thing, as it features the brand's new visual identity. More vertical, more functional, and full of power and modernity. The radiator grille is integrated into the bumper, and in the centre is the new oval Citroën logo. The logo is flanked by a black striped belt that echoes the chevron motif, showing the attention to detail and adding a touch of sophistication. This combines the logo with the new headlights, which feature Citroën's three-section light logo, which has a vertical bar and two horizontal strips that resemble slats. This logo gives Berlingo a unique technological look.
The main thing is the space and practicality inside
The best feature of the new dashboard is its spacious volume, which conveys a sense of quality and solidity. Its design highlights the technology symbolized by the new 10-inch high-resolution central touchscreen (ideally located high) and the new configurable digital instrument cluster. In the upper part there is a huge storage box-top box, which is facilitated by the installation of airbags on the roof. However, we don't have this practical addition.
The bottom of the center console features gear shift and drive mode functions, an electric parking brake, a start button and 2 USB ports, as well as an innovative storage area for inductive charging of smartphones. The new feature is an optional heated steering wheel with a new rim style with a slightly flatter bottom surface and a more graphically prominent central protrusion with a new Citroen logo in the middle. It contains controls for the audio system and cruise control. Finally, the overall quality of the interior decoration has been improved.

As we managed to convince, in a passenger car it is not entirely obvious that you automatically get three full seats in the second row. Not even the fact that you will have 3 Isofixes. You don't have to worry about that, though, there are also three seats that not only have enough room for your child's legs, but also have 3x Isofix. We are also pleased to be able to open a separate window on the tailgate door, for example, when you don't have room to open a fifth gate in the parking lot.
Travel in comfort
For added comfort, the new Berlingo is equipped with Advanced Comfort front seats for the first time. Designed exclusively for Citroën, its refined architecture combined with specific high-quality foam and side supports guarantees a high level of comfort. In addition, its special fabrics and tri-color finishes look particularly stylish and elegant. The quilting effect in the centre of the seat cushion and backrest is visually appealing and comfortable. The design of the backrest is enlivened by a colored strip in the shape of the letter U on the backrest.
Is a Berlingo better than a station wagon?
This question is difficult to answer. Someone has a personal problem that they would drive a van with a child, and the C-Class station wagon seems to be a more elegant option. Our subjective opinion, though, is that you want to get rid of your prejudices and you definitely won't embarrass yourself with this car. Its practical characteristics remove all doubts. The return of diesel in the form of low consumption in intercity transport will leave you in doubt.
