Stills from District 9
"District 9" director Neil Blomkamp recently wrote a passage on social media: he is working with actor Zarto Copley and original screenwriter Trinity Tacitus for the sequel "District 10", and the sequel is coming.
But don't be too happy too soon, the last time Neil said the sequel was coming was in June 2017.
He made a sci-fi short for his new production company, Oats Studios, telling the media that a new film rooted in the world of District 9 was being planned. The reason for the slow progress was because there were a lot of copyright issues involved, and he wanted to be able to do what he wanted to do.
It's hard to have a director like Blomkamp whose feature debut ("District Nine") has achieved such success and influence, with an R-rated film grossing $210 million worldwide and even being nominated for an Oscar for Best Picture. Although the end of the film is open-ended, leaving a lot of suspense to be answered, Blomkamp, who tasted the sweetness, did not immediately invest in the production of a sequel, but successively directed films such as "Elysium Space" and "Super Chapai".
