The 35-year-old has competed in four Olympics before. It is reported that because of a tendon rupture in training, Li Ling will not be able to make her fifth Olympic trip.
"My fifth Olympic Games stopped here because of this unexpected injury before I started." Li Ling said, "I originally wanted to hit the Asian record in the Olympic Games, but it was a pity that the sky did not fulfill people's wishes. ”
"For me, each of the past four Olympic Games has been a kind of growth, and being able to stand on the field in the Chinese team uniform is my favorite thing, but this first major injury in my career is not another kind of growth."
"In the future, I will take good care of my injury, pay attention to every feedback from my body, and the next time I stand on the field, the goal is still to break through myself. I hope that my teammates in Paris will cheer up, show their best condition, and finish the race smoothly and safely, I am with everyone! ”
Li Ling revealed that although she had undergone emergency surgery for her ruptured hamstring tendon on the back of her thigh, she still could not recover in the short term due to the severity of the injury.
Previously, she broke the Asian record four times, holding the Asian record (4.72m) in the event, and won gold medals at three consecutive Asian Games in Incheon, Jakarta and Hangzhou.
