This is the first time that a handicraft workshop has been found at the Sanxingdui site.
It is an important step in Sanxingdui archaeological research to use new materials to verify the source of Sanxingdui jade, stone tools and other raw materials, and to answer a series of questions such as the functional layout of Sanxingdui ancient city.
From 2022 to 2024, archaeologists will discover new relics related to the production and processing of jade tools at the Sanxingdui site, which are preliminarily judged by experts to be the "production workshop" of jade tools, which is dated to the middle of the Shang Dynasty, about 3500 to 3400 years ago, which is earlier than the burial age of the Sanxingdui sacrificial pit.

In the vicinity of the Yanjia courtyard in Sanxingdui Moon Bay, the Sichuan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology carried out archaeological exploration, and successively found more than 400 high-grade building sites, ash pits, ash ditches, stone tool production and processing relics, and unearthed more than 4,000 pieces of pottery, jade, and stone tools.
The site of this jade workshop is located in a cleared lot that has been preserved. The "production workshop" is about one kilometer away from the eight sacrificial pits in Sanxingdui, and less than 100 meters away from the jade pit in the Yanjia courtyard that was first discovered in Sanxingdui in 1927.
The newly unearthed cultural relics, including jade raw materials, blanks, scraps, fragments, and finished products, formed a relatively complete chain of early handicrafts, and the preliminary judgment was that the new discovery was a jade tool workshop.
"The discovery of the 'production workshop' will uncover the mysteries of where the raw materials of the large number of jade artifacts unearthed in Sanxingdui come from, how the production technology is, the production process and the circulation method." Sichuan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology Sanxingdui Site Workstation Director Ran Honglin said.
From "discovery" to "interpretation", bronze production workshops will be searched for in the future to further unveil the "veil" of ancient Shu civilization and provide more powerful evidence for the empirical integration of Chinese civilization.
Over the years, more than 60,000 pieces of cultural relics have been unearthed, and the results are loud in the world. The new Sanxingdui Museum has been open for nearly a year, and more than 5 million Chinese and foreign tourists have visited.

Tips
Sanxingdui Museum will have some optimization and adjustment in terms of ticket booking, refund, and tourist service from July 1 in combination with tourists' suggestions and reality.
01 Delayed service
· Extended service will be implemented during Golden Week, small long holidays, and winter and summer vacations (January, February, July, and August).
· The opening hours are 08:30-20:00, and admission ends at 18:00.
· Extended tickets will be released at 17:00 on the day of the visit.
02 Refund Policy
· Unused tickets will be refunded before 24:00 on the day before the visit, regardless of no-shows.
· Tickets can still be refunded before 20:00 on the day of visit, counting 1 no-show; No refunds will be made after 20:00 on the day of the visit.
· If you make a total of 3 no-shows within 60 days, you will not be able to reserve tickets for 60 days from the day after the 3rd no-show.
· The refund rules for group tickets shall be implemented in accordance with the relevant regulations of travel agencies for group reservation and booking.
03 Exhibition hall order
· In order to ensure the safety of cultural relics and personnel and a good visiting experience, please visit the exhibition in a civilized manner and prohibit any unsafe behavior. Those who fight in the museum, refuse to obey management, and disrupt the normal order of visiting will be included in the list of lifelong prohibitions from entering the museum.
· Those who have other uncivilized behaviors will be banned from entering the museum for 90 days or even for life, depending on the severity of the circumstances.
· and where violations or crimes are suspected, they shall be transferred to the public security organs for serious handling in accordance with law.
04 Precautions for Ticket Booking and Ticket Inspection
· All visitors are requested to present their original booking documents (resident ID card, passport, etc.) when checking in; Visitors who enjoy the reduction and exemption must also present their original exemption and exemption certificates.
· If you do not bring your original valid ID card, please apply for a temporary identity certificate free of charge at the police booth of the Visitor Service Center of the museum.
· Chinese mainland visitors can only use their resident ID cards to book and check tickets.
· Non-Chinese mainland visitors should use the Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents, the Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents, and the Foreigner's Permanent Residence ID Card or Passport to book and check tickets.
· The same certificate can only book 1 ticket per visit day, and the ticket can only be used on the day of the visit, and all kinds of tickets can only enter the museum once, and cannot be re-entered.
