In addition to the gala dinner, the Maison has also prepared a traceability experience that will take all guests on an extraordinary journey through time and immersion in the art of cognac making.
On the first leg of the visit, guests were led by our ambassadors to the Maison de la Rémy Martin in Cognac, where they experienced Rémy Martin's 300-year attachment to the terroir and its constant quest for excellence.
Afterwards, during a visit to the vineyards, distilleries and cellars, guests were able to fully experience the entire life cycle of Rémy Martin Cognac, from grape to glass.
The meandering Charente River irrigates the soft and fertile soils and nourishes the vibrant vineyards for generations. The power of nature has created the legend of cognac, and the journey back to the origin unfolds in the greenery. Walking through the vineyards, Li Xian and his guests felt the generosity of the natural terroir and the charm of sustainable splendor.
According to the local "appellation of origin", the eaux-de-vie used for fine Champagne cognac can only come from two grape regions in the heart of the Cognac region of France: Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne. For three centuries, as the only Cognac House that has produced only premium Champagne cognacs, Château Rémy Martin has selected only grapes from Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne, and the proportion of grapes from Grande Champagne is not less than 50%, which is a precious, rare and very potential for aging, giving Rémy Martin Fine Champagne cognacs a unique aroma.
Walk past the historic Rémy Martin distillery, where the original extract of the grapes extracted after harvest is transformed into precious eaux-de-vie. In contrast to modern methods of mass production, Rémy Martin uses small copper stills for secondary slag distillation, which helps to preserve the original flavours of the grapes to the greatest extent possible and to create eaux-de-vie with more potential for aging.
Afterwards, step into the ancient and tranquil Melbin cellars and witness the magic of time unfolding. Approximately 140,000 barrels of eaux-de-vie are stored in the Rémy Martin cellars. The entire cellar is built to better age the quality eaux-de-vie: Château Rémy Martin uses only oak barrels from the Limousin forest that are no less than 150 years old.
