Installing a dehumidifier or turning on the dehumidification function of the air conditioner can alleviate a little, but it does not cure the symptoms and cannot fundamentally solve the problem.
The renovation cost is high and the cost performance is low
When I chose tiles for the wall, my budget doubled at once. The tiles themselves are expensive, and with the construction costs, the cost soars all at once. In my 126-square-meter home, the whole house is tiled on the wall, and the cost of the tiles alone is nearly 20,000, not including the cost of the floor.
In contrast, choosing a latex paint is much more economical. Latex paint is not only inexpensive, but it comes in a variety of colors, and you can change the shade at any time according to your personal preference. After decoration, it was found that the practicality and decorative effect of latex paint are not inferior to ceramic tiles, and even more warm.
The visual effect is cold and hard, not warm enough
The tile on the wall looks high-end, but after living for a long time, you will find that it brings a cold and hard feeling. Home is a place that needs warmth and comfort, and the cold and hard texture of the tiles makes the atmosphere of the home not warm enough. Especially when the sun hits the tiles, the reflective effect makes people feel harsh and uncomfortable.
In contrast, the pastel tones and variety of options of latex paint can better create a warm family atmosphere. Even a simple large white wall is much better than the cold and hard feeling brought by tiles.
There are many potential safety hazards, and the tiles may fall off
Tiles on the wall are not a permanent security. With the passage of time, small problems in construction will gradually be exposed, and the phenomenon of hollowing and falling off will occur from time to time.
Although the tiles in my house have not yet fallen off in a large area, there have been several cases of small areas falling off in the neighbor's house, and each time it is terrifying. If you had chosen latex paint, these safety hazards would not have existed. After all, latex paint doesn't come off and it's easier to maintain.
It is difficult to dismantle and renovate, and it is troublesome to maintain
Another big problem with tiles on the wall is the difficulty of demolition. Once the tiles are attached, they are difficult to alter. If you want to change the decoration style, you have to smash it and start over, and this process is expensive and laborious. The latex paint wall is much more flexible, and if you want to change the color or style, you only need to repaint it, which is simple and convenient.
In addition, once the style of the tile wall is determined, it is difficult to adjust it as you like, limiting the flexibility of the decoration.
Three years after moving in, I felt that it was a mistake to choose tiles for the wall. Although the visual effect of tiles on the wall is really good in the early stage of decoration, the disadvantages of this method gradually become apparent over time. During the rainy season, the water droplets on the wall always make me irritable; The high cost of renovation made me feel that it was not worth it; The cold and hard visuals make the home lack a sense of warmth; Safety hazards are always present and unsettling; It is difficult to dismantle and reform, and it is even more confusing.
In short, the tile on the wall may seem beautiful and high-end, but in fact it brings problems that far outweigh the expected benefits. If I had been given another chance, I would never have chosen this way of decorating again.
