Havertz revealed "favourite location" under Chelsea's Tuchel.

Kay Havertz revealed his favourite spot under Chelsea's Thomas Tutchell.

The 22-year-old had a tough start to his career at Chelsea, suffering from COVID-19 before starting to show his strength late in the season.

His first season ended in memorable style as the German scored his only goal in the Champions League final to secure a win over Manchester City.

He then performed well for Germany at Euro 2020 before returning to the Blues and enjoying a strong pre-season, winning praise from Tuchel.

"I agree with him about pre-season," Havertz told the Chelsea website. "When you succeed and hit a very important goal, of course, it gives you confidence, but I think it's not just about confidence.

"I feel good here right now, I know the players, I know the staff, I know the game, I know the opponents and sometimes it helps you a lot.

"But for me, confidence is the most important thing in football and when you have it, you become very strong and better. So it's a combination of confidence and a feeling of being at home. ”

Havertz shined late last season as Chelsea's No. 9 player, but signing Romelu Lukaku for £98m means he has been put in a deeper position to support the Belgian.

"We have a lot of attacking players and sometimes we change the system," he explained. "Sometimes I hit number 10, sometimes I hit number 9.

"I really like where I play in this system and I enjoy it. It's my favourite location, somewhere in front of me, and it's also very good to play these positions here with these good players.

"Romelu is now probably the point that every defender wants to see. Sometimes two or three defenders are right next to him, so that gives us more space. He's played a couple of games here now, so it gets better when you're used to playing with him.

"Of course, he's a great striker. I think in the last few games he's done really well. ”

Havertz added: "You have to adjust your game a little bit. When you're a no. 10 player, you can sometimes hold the ball a little lower, maybe more often.

"When you're in the no. 9 position, you have to always keep the defence very low, and when you have 5 or 10 minutes without touching the ball, that moment you have to be there and have to score.

"So of course it's a different situation and you have to adapt to it."
