CBA Memorabilia of the "Guan Xiuchang Incident"

In the 2007-2008 season, the "Guan Xiuchang Incident" of the CBA League can be described as a shock.

That season, Guan Xiuchang represented Xinjiang Guanghui in the CBA League as an internal aid. Although Guan Xiuchang is of Chinese American descent, he does not have Chinese nationality, and his domestic identity card is forged, so he does not meet the conditions for domestic assistance. This practice of the Xinjiang team undoubtedly violated the player registration regulations of the Basketball Association.

After many media and clubs questioned the identity of Guan Xiuchang, the relevant person in charge of the Basketball Association directly intervened in the investigation. According to the investigation, all of Guan Xiuchang's domestic identity documents were forged, Guan Xiuchang was a Chinese-American player, and it was illegal for the Xinjiang team to let Guan Xiuchang participate while already having two foreign aides. Judge Guan Xiuchang won 18 games in which Xinjiang lost 0-20, and Xinjiang dropped from 3rd to 11th in the regular season, and ultimately missed the playoffs. In addition, the Basketball Association decided to submit the matter of "Guan Xiuchang" using a fake Chinese resident identity card to the public security department for investigation and handling, and "Guan Xiuchang" will never be allowed to participate in basketball competitions organized by the Chinese Basketball Association in China.

Prior to this, Guan Xiuchang had played for the Yunnan team, and his name at that time was "Ma Xiuchang". In the midst of doubts, Ma Xiuchang was cut by Yunnan after only four rounds of matches.

This incident also sounded the alarm for the Basketball Association's problems in player registration.
