After the lowest-ranked No.31 Krejcikova in the Final Four defeated the unanimous World Fourth Sister Rybakina 3:6/6:3/6:4 last night, Krejcikova continued in the iconic footsteps of her late mentor Jana · Novotna by reaching the Wimbledon singles final for the first time, and Novotna's trials, tribulations and eventual victories on grass courts made her a London fan favourite and legend.

Czech legend Novotna has reached the Wimbledon final three times, and in 1993 she cried on the shoulder of the Duchess of Kent after losing to Graf in the final, and became a Wimbledon star and won the hearts of all the fans... But that's just the beginning of her career at Wimbledon, and Novonena's dedication to Wimbledon as a master of serving and volleying has made her a beloved symbol of perseverance... After losing to Hingis in 1997 and finishing runner-up again, Novotna finally claimed the title she coveted, and she won Wimbledon in 1998, much to the excitement of her fans...

Novotona became a guiding force in Czech tennis, and when Krejcikova transitioned from a teenager to a professional, she and her parents visited Novotna for advice, and Novotona not only provided words of wisdom, but she also became the de facto coach of Krejcikova as she moved up the rankings through the ITF Challenger Tour, and was in fact the last protégé of Novotna before dying of ovarian cancer.

The Czech women's performance at Wimbledon has left a huge legacy for Czech fans, and Novotna is an integral part of that chain, and now Krejcikova could become the second Czech to win the title in a row after Vondrousova Markota· von Drusova last year...
