Escape from The Island of Clones is a 2005 film set in 2019, when the world was said to have been nearly destroyed by pollution. The male protagonist, Lincoln 6E (Ivan McGregor), is one of the survivors of the holocaust, living with thousands of people in a high-tech base protected from pollution. Jordan 2D (Scarlett Johansson) is his best friend.
There is a lottery draw at the base where the winner can go to live in "The Island". But Lincoln had been having the same unexplained nightmare lately, becoming restless and extremely suspicious of the tightly monitored environment.
But he had no idea that his curiosity would lead him to discover a frightening fact that everything he lived in was a lie, and that the mysterious island of the pure land on earth was a cruel cover, he was a clone like all the residents of the facility, and the only purpose of survival was to provide a backup body drive for the Buddha-figure.
At this time, the organization also found that this group of clones was flawed and decided to completely destroy it. Lincoln and Jordan decide to boldly escape from this hypocritical utopia and enter the real world they never knew about.
After they fled to the outside world and stayed away from the "organization's" surveillance, the long-established friendship between the man and woman gradually transformed into a deeper feeling, but the organization was powerful, and in order to hunt them both unscrupulously and at any cost, Lincoln and Jordan had only one goal, that is, to survive.
Under the yin and yang difference, Lincoln replaced the Buddha-figure and lived a rich and happy life. However, when he learns that the other clones will be disposed of, he decides to return to the organization with Jordan to rescue the other clones. When thousands of clones finally saw the dawn on the ground, everyone shed tears of emotion!
I think this film is not bad, it combines a lot of wonderful elements of entertainment movies.
The first is the futuristic architecture and high-tech equipment, the super-dazzling flying motorcycle and other novel designs that are only found in science fiction films; the reason I like to watch science fiction movies is that I can appreciate those super special design products.
There are also exciting, cold-free gun battles, flying car chases, building explosions, helicopter tracking with a speedy rhythm and rock soundtrack, and the explosion action scenes of this film are really quite enjoyable to watch; I stare at the screen with dazzle, and the emotions fluctuate.
Therefore, in terms of visual and auditory effects alone, this film is already worth watching.
The plot is set in a future world full of unknowns and mysteries, and at first I could not guess the true identity of the protagonist. The male and female protagonists also made a lot of jokes because of their special identities, which is a relaxed and humorous bridge section in the film.
However, although the overall plot seems to be complete and reasonable, many parts are hurriedly taken, and there are problems with emotional connection; especially the ending is not solved. But the main function of commercial entertainment films is not entertainment, so I am very enjoyable to watch this film.
The director of this film is Michael Bay, who has made many commercial blockbuster films, in fact, I have always forgotten about his works; that is to say, it will be very exciting to watch it now, but it will be forgotten over time. The only thing he remembers is that he liked to use explosions, sabotage, flying car chases and other scenes.
In this film, he also threw money as usual, bombarding the audience's audiovisual senses; but the script that was still relatively deep was replaced by explosions, which was meaningless.
The male protagonist is played by ivan McGregor, a young student, whose performance is not bad, and the scenes that change in different situations and moods are not bad; it is difficult to classify him as an action movie male star.
Actress Scarlett Johansson is quite attractive on the outside, but her acting skills are not strong. She just has to flee with the male protagonist in a panic, especially the perfume advertisement interspersed with her own film in the movie, which is quite charming.
I think the combination of male and female protagonists is quite fresh, but it lacks sparks. I liked the key role played by Steve Bussimi with full of comedy, the Shaun Guest villain I didn't recognize him at all; the two black supporting characters, Jeman Hansu and Michael Clark Duncan, didn't do much.
For the cloned organs and human beings mentioned in the film, I personally do not have much feeling and experience. After all, people will always live and die, if you spend 5 million US dollars to let yourself live for more decades is it worth it? To paraphrase a phrase from the protagonist in the movie "I just want to live . I don't care how.", anyway, man is desperate to survive.
