In the second quarter of this year, Mercedes-Benz sold 95,596 vehicles in the United States, down 12% compared to the same period in 2023. Among them, the cumulative sales of EQS and EQS SUV models were 2,556 units, a year-on-year decrease of 57%; Sales of EQB models increased by 88% year-on-year in the second quarter, and cumulative sales in the first half of this year reached 3,844 units, an increase of 4% year-on-year.
While Mercedes-Benz is struggling in the field of new energy electric vehicles, the sales of the brand's plug-in hybrid models soared by 524% in the second quarter. According to Dimitris Psillakis, CEO of Mercedes-Benz United States, as the brand expands its plug-in hybrid vehicle portfolio, the GLC 350e and AMG SL 63e S models are planned to be launched in the United States market in the third quarter, which will further increase its plug-in hybrid model sales.
At the same time, the brand's CLE coupe model also got off to a strong start, with sales reaching 3,424 units in the second quarter. GLS sales increased by 28 percent, while GT sales increased by 35 percent to 1,046 units. The S-segment flagship sedan sales fell 42% in the second quarter and 33% for the year. Sales of the G-Class, GLA and GLB also declined slightly, while SL sales were down 49% and sales for the full year were down 60%.
