On July 6, the 2023-2024 closing concert of the Cadillac Shanghai Concert Hall was staged. At the age of 22, Andrés Odensom, who became the youngest principal clarinet in the history of the Berliner Philharmoniker, made his conducting debut in Shanghai, bringing an unforgettable musical feast to the Basel Chamber Orchestra, the "dark horse" of the European classical music scene.
Andrés Odensamer, a member of the Odensamer family and a member of a musical family, interrupted his studies at Harvard University in 2009 to study at the Berlin Philharmonic. In just two years, at the age of 22, Odensamer became the youngest principal clarinet in the history of the Berliner Philharmoniker, which is undoubtedly the greatest recognition of his extraordinary talent. At the same time, Odensamer was also the first clarinet player to sign with Deutsche Grammophone, a major German classical music recording company. His collaboration with pianist Yuja Wang on the album "Blue Time" (Blue Time) has given music fans a new way to listen to classical music.
Odensamer, who combines beauty and talent, has expanded his music career to the field of conducting. He studied conducting with Professor Niklas Pasquet under the tutelage of Maestro Riccardo Muti, Jaap van Zweden and Johannes Schlavelly. "As a Swiss symphony orchestra, we also chose the Summer Pastoral, composed by Swiss composer Arthur Oneg when he was 28 years old, so that the audience can experience the magnificence and harmony of Swiss nature." Marcel Faulk, director of the Basel Chamber Orchestra, added.
With the concert, the 2023-2024 concert season of Shanghai Concert Hall has also come to a successful conclusion.
