On July 6, the 23rd Youth Salon of China Electrotechnical Society was held in Baoding City, and more than 60 experts and scholars from more than 10 universities and research institutes such as North China Electric Power University, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Hebei University of Technology, Shandong University and other universities gathered together to discuss the latest research progress and current technical bottlenecks and challenges in the field of electrical engineering around key technologies in the industry such as green electrical insulation materials, new high-efficiency electromagnetic materials, and multiphysics of electrical equipment.
The event was hosted by the China Electrotechnical Society, and undertaken by the Youth Working Committee of the China Electrotechnical Society and the Department of Electric Power Engineering of North China Electric Power University. Professor Liu Yunpeng, Vice President of North China Electric Power University and Director of Hebei Provincial Key Laboratory of Green and Efficient Electrical New Materials and Equipment, Liu Xiaoqing, Researcher of Ningbo Institute of Materials, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Li Yongjian, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Electrical Engineering of Hebei University of Technology, and other 3 senior experts, Zheng Jinxing, Director of the First Office of the Institute of Plasma Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Professor Zou Liang, Director of the Institute of Electrical Theory and New Technology of the School of Electrical Engineering of Shandong University, respectively, made keynote reports on their research progress.
The salon also held a roundtable forum on new green electrical materials and applications, and conducted full exchanges and discussions on the growth of young experts, the intersection and integration of materials and electrical disciplines, and the promotion of cutting-edge technologies.
The China Electrotechnical Society is a national 5A-level society, with 50,000 members and more than 1,500 group members. The society has always focused on the development of science and technology, discipline construction, enabling industrial upgrading, and the training and recommendation of young talents, and has achieved remarkable results.
North China Electric Power University is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, and a key university in the national "211 Project" and "985 Project Advantageous Discipline Innovation Platform". In 2017, the university entered the ranks of national "double first-class" construction universities, focusing on the construction of energy and power science and engineering disciplines. In 2022, the "Electrical Engineering" major of the university was once again selected as the second round of "Double First-Class" construction disciplines. The Department of Electric Power Engineering is the backbone department of North China Electric Power University established in 1958, with the right to confer doctoral degrees in the first-level discipline of electrical engineering and a postdoctoral research station. It has established important scientific research platforms such as the State Key Laboratory of New Energy Power System, Hebei Province Power Transmission and Transformation Equipment Security Defense, Distributed Energy Storage and Microgrid, and New Electrical Materials and Equipment, and has cultivated more than 30,000 outstanding talents for the country for more than 60 years.
Liu Yunpeng said that he hoped that through this academic salon, young scholars in the field of electrical materials could be united, multidisciplinary cross-integration could be strengthened, the discipline development of electrical materials could be promoted, and the application of advanced technology could be promoted.
