The piano of steel – the last dignity of a middle-aged man

The film is set in the 1990s, when reform and opening up entered a climax, a large number of state-owned enterprises were restructured, and employees were laid off. Chen Guilin (Wang Qianyuan), a former iron factory worker, and his wife Xiaoju (Zhang Shenying) have a girl. After Chen Guilin was laid off from the restructuring, his livelihood was helpless, so he asked a few buddies to form a folk band to undertake red and white blowing, and spent all day running around the activities of weddings, funerals, weddings, and opening celebrations. As the days go on, Xiao Ju is tired of the burden of life and walks with a wealthy businessman, demanding a divorce from Chen Guilin and fighting for custody of her only daughter. The two sides agreed that whoever could give her daughter a piano would belong to her daughter. So the piano became the key to child custody. However, Chen Guilin was shy, and in the case of borrowing money without success, he went to school with his steel mill friends to steal the piano, but he was caught.

In desperation, Chen Guilin accidentally saw a book about the production of pianos, so he took several brothers to fight for dignity in the dilapidated factory and began a journey of hand-making pianos. In the end, with the help of a group of fallen brothers, he reluctantly built a "steel" piano. Love, friendship, and affection, like this absurd and helpless piano tone, reverberate in the empty and dilapidated factory building.

The piano of steel

- Based on the film of the same name

My love is expressed in music,

Too helpless.

Can't keep up with the beat of reality,

Only because there is no shy pocket of rmb,

How dare you say love?

Once distant open reform,

Just say it.

The red age full of chimneys,

In the blink of an eye, there was only a speck of dust left,

Who ever understood?

Put down the hammer,

Barely play the wonderful accordion.

Reality buries the home and the factory building alive,

Play an elegy,

Ideals are stuck in elegy.

My past and future,

It's all in the hands of steel.

One last attempt,

Ideal and reality contest,

Who is favored by fate better than whom.

The piano of steel,

Even if the shortest beat,

It will also be full of anger and helplessness.

Let reality dominate,

I wish with ideals,

Buried alive by the world together.
