According to Russian media sources, Serbian President Vučić attended the US Independence Day reception held by the US Embassy in Belgrade. Subsequently, Vučić said that Serbia and the United States are historical allies and hope to continue to improve relations on the basis of mutual respect and understanding.
This remark was understood by the outside world as a signal that the Serbian side took the initiative to send a signal to the United States to ease relations. This is somewhat unusual. Recall that at the end of last year, after the municipal elections in the Serbian capital Belgrade, mass protests broke out, and the Serbian opposition stormed the town hall in an attempt to overturn the election results, at that time, Vucic called that mass protest a "color revolution" and thanked Russia for providing intelligence. In the subsequent investigation, it was found that behind the protests, there was a shadow of Western countries led by the United States.
In fact, it is not surprising that most of the color revolutions that have broken out in various countries can be related to the United States. Counting back a few decades, the United States bombed Serbia in 1999 for three months, and the Chinese people will probably not forget it, let alone Serbia, and it is also because of the US intervention that the dispute in the Kosovo region continues to this day. Just this year, the United Nations General Assembly, under the impetus of the United States and Western countries, also passed a controversial resolution on Serbia, and the situation became more and more unfavorable for Serbia, but Vučić wore a national flag and choked up to thank those countries that supported Serbia, including China and Russia. This series of events has made it difficult for Serbs to have a good impression of the United States, but why is Serbia taking the initiative to ease relations with the United States now?
In fact, he had no choice but to do this, Serbia is located in the southeast of Europe, is a landlocked country, and neighboring countries have fallen to the Western camp one after another in the past two years, but Serbia has maintained its policy independence as always. At a time when European countries have decoupled from China and condemned Russia's military actions, Serbia has maintained good relations with China and Russia. This has put Vučić under tremendous political and diplomatic pressure, and the color revolution at the end of last year may have been a warning from the West. And NATO is still holding the card of Kosovo in its hands, according to relevant information, Kosovo has purchased a batch of drones, which shows that the situation in Serbia is not optimistic. But even so, Mr. Vučić said he would still resist Western pressure and maintain relations with China and Russia.
China and Russia, as good friends of Serbia, naturally will not sit idly by and watch Serbia in danger, and the recent display of the Red Flag-17AE by Serbia is an anti-aircraft weapon that China has given Serbia to defend against drone attacks. Serbia is not a neighbor of China and Russia after all, and even Russia, which is in the same Europe, cannot reach it, and can only provide intelligence support in times of emergency. Therefore, for the sake of Serbia's national interests, Vučić can only choose to ease relations with the United States, just like when the UN General Assembly faced the passage of a controversial resolution, Vučić, who was powerless to change the outcome, could only choose to accept it, sad and helpless.
From Serbia's point of view, in the political environment of Europe, it is not easy for Vučić to maintain good relations with China and Russia. It is hoped that with the support of China and Russia, Serbia's independence will be maintained.
