Now, 28 years later, the same flood has swept again, and it is heart-wrenching.
Looking at the collapsed levees, the flooded houses, and the desperate victims, I can't help but ask: who is responsible for all this?
After understanding, I found that the root cause was actually those flood control leaders who were in high positions but did not act.
Their incompetence and dereliction of duty at a critical moment led to the recurrence of this tragedy. From this incident, it is not difficult for us to see what position they put in order to ensure the safety of the people's lives.
According to the investigation, before the Tuanzhou flood, the local flood control leaders had actually received many early warning messages. But unfortunately, they did not take any effective precautions.
On the contrary, they even think that "there will be no major problems this time". But when the real flood came, they were helpless and even made outrageous wrong decisions.
For example, in the early days of the pipe surge, they adopted the absurd practice of "pumping sand boats to pump sand to block", which is undoubtedly treating professional flood control knowledge.
And when the levee finally burst, they didn't even have time to evacuate. This not only put the safety of more than 10,000 people's lives and property in an instant, but also completely exposed their incompetence.
What is even more heart-wrenching is that the disaster has caused heavy losses to local farmers. Houses, fish ponds, fields, their only source of livelihood were swallowed up by the flood.
Although the Government quickly took some remedial measures after the incident, it was no longer enough to compensate for the enormous trauma they had suffered.
All these tragedies stem from those irresponsible flood control leaders. Their laxity and wrong decisions in the face of the crisis not only worried the people of the county, but also caused great suffering to innocent people.
This is obviously a serious betrayal of one's own duties, and it is also a complete betrayal of the trust of the people.
In a way, they were the "sinners" of the flood. If it weren't for their incompetence, if it weren't for their dereliction of duty, perhaps none of this would have happened.
The reason why they have made such serious mistakes is undoubtedly because they have long forgotten their responsibilities and missions.
I want to ask, what exactly are these leaders doing at this critical time? Is it trapped in an office and burnt out, or is it outside directing operations but making irreparable decisions? Or do they simply turn a blind eye to the impending catastrophe?
In any case, what they did has become a stain on history. Their incompetence and dereliction of duty have not only caused huge losses to innocent people, but also seriously damaged the people's trust in the government.
We deserve to strongly condemn such acts and demand that they pay the price for their mistakes.
I hope that the relevant authorities will thoroughly investigate this matter and bring those leaders who failed in their duties to justice.
