On July 3, local media in the Philippines reported that the Philippine Immigration Department had captured a pregnant woman in a high-end apartment in Pasay City, Metro Manila. This pregnant woman is not an ordinary person, she is one of the leaders of a criminal gang specializing in kidnapping Chinese.
This case is bizarre enough. Tell me, a pregnant woman should have taken care of the baby at home, but she ran out to do this kind of thing. The people at the Philippine Immigration Bureau certainly didn't expect that the criminal they were going to arrest was actually a big-bellied mother-to-be.
According to Lundell Shi, the head of the Fugitive Search Unit of the Philippine Immigration Bureau, the modus operandi of this gang can be described as quite sophisticated. They specifically targeted the Chinese in the Philippines.
The pregnant woman plays a key role in the gang, contacting potential victims, commonly known as "fishing". She may ask the victim out for a meeting on a variety of grounds.
When the victim stupidly runs to the agreed place, the kidnappers who are hiding around will rush up and arrest the person.
You may ask, why do they kidnap people? For money, of course. Once the gang has the victim under control, they contact the victim's family and start extorting ransom. Interestingly, they are quite up-to-date and demand that the family pay the ransom in USDT, a cryptocurrency. This is probably an attempt to evade police investigation, as cryptocurrency transactions are difficult to trace.
Speaking of the leader of the pregnant women, Lendel Shi said that she was a slippery head. In order to avoid the pursuit of the police, she racked her brains.
She never uses her real name, and she uses a pseudonym when contacting her accomplices. often moved and changed her residence, just to prevent the police from finding out her whereabouts. These tricks can make the police and immigration people worried, and it is really difficult to chase them.
However, this time she planted it anyway. The police and immigration authorities probably put a lot of effort into finally arresting her in this high-end apartment. Speaking of which, her husband is even more unlucky than her, he has long been arrested by the police's anti-kidnapping team, and is now locked up in the detention center of the immigration bureau.
Lendel Shi said that her husband's case is still being processed because this guy seems to be involved in other cases.
This case makes people sigh, this world is really chaotic. You see, a husband and wife are not living well, and they actually engage in kidnapping and extortion. Moreover, they specifically pick on the Chinese, which makes it even more infuriating. Chinese abroad are already unfamiliar with life, and as a result, they have to beware of such bad people.
However, this case also shows us the efforts of the Philippine police and the immigration department. Although the gang of criminals were quite cunning, they were eventually caught. This can give some comfort to the Chinese in the Philippines, at least knowing that the local law enforcement agencies are serious about fighting crime.
At the end of the day, the case is quite complicated. It may not be enough to catch this pregnant woman ringleader, there must be more accomplices behind it. Moreover, transnational crimes like this are even more difficult to trace. It is hoped that the police in the Philippines can follow the path and wipe out the entire criminal gang.
It is also worth noting that there was also a recent case in the Philippines in which a Chinese pharmaceutical company executive was kidnapped and ripped off his ticket. Although the Philippine authorities have not said that the two cases are related, who knows? It is impossible to say if there is any connection between these cases.
In foreign countries, especially in places like the Philippines, you still have to be more careful. Don't trust strangers easily, especially those who ask you to meet alone.
After all, you never know if the other person has good intentions or bad intentions. More vigilance, less risk, this is not false at all.
Now, the pregnant woman is being held in the Philippine Immigration Bureau. It is estimated that she did not expect that her "career" would be cut off before giving birth. I don't know if she will reflect on what she did in prison.
It is hoped that the Philippine judicial department will severely punish them according to law, teach these criminals a profound lesson, and also give an explanation to the Chinese in the Philippines.
PS: I don't know if this is Li Na? Is it related to the previous case of a pharmaceutical executive?
