Kyiv was hit by a missile attack late at night
On the night of June 30, a piercing air defense siren sounded over Kyiv. This surprise attack launched by the Russian army is actually a long-standing game.
To understand the deepest reasons for the success of this attack, we have to go back to the 80s. At that time, the Soviet Union was secretly developing land-based cruise missiles in order to gain an advantage in the arms race. It didn't take long for the signing of the INF Treaty to put these efforts in vain.
Since the end of the Cold War, the world has changed dramatically. Russia's relations with the West have gone downhill. In 2019, the United States unilaterally withdrew from the INF Treaty, and Russia immediately declared the treaty null and void. In this way, the shackles that restricted the development of medium-range missiles in the two countries were lifted.
The Russian army's precision strikes shocked Ukraine
According to the "War Research" website, the Russian army launched a number of "Iskander-K" patrol missiles, aiming directly at the Ukrainian capital. The scale and precision of the attack were unexpected by many.
The Ukrainian military reacted quickly. The air defense system opened fire with all its might, trying to intercept the incoming missile. Although the Ukrainian side claimed to have successfully intercepted most of the missiles and stressed that the damage was limited, the fires over the city were still shocking.
At the same time, the Russian side is not idle. They quickly issued a statement declaring the crackdown "effective." What is even more striking is that the Russian side characterized this operation as a "decapitation operation" against Ukraine's core targets.
More blows ahead?
Russia didn't stop there. They warn that there will be more similar blows in the future.
These words made the Ukrainian people feel extremely panicked, because they knew that the Russian army would do what it said with a spittle and a nail.
Unveiling the ace weapon of the Russian army "Iskander-K"
The emergence of the "Iskander-K" patrol guide makes us have to pay attention to the modern warfare of the current era, and it is no longer the era of millet and rifles.
The life story of "Iskander-K" is quite complicated. Its ancestors date back to the Soviet land-based cruise missile systems of the 80s. But what really shaped it was the "Caliber" cruise missiles of the Russian Navy.
This design concept of "all-in-one sea, land and air" is the embodiment of the unique thinking of the Russian military industry. They are adept at integrating existing technologies to create new weapon systems.
Initially, the range of the Iskander-K was limited to 490 km, which was to comply with the provisions of the INF Treaty. But as soon as the treaty was scrapped, Russia immediately increased its range to 1000 km. All at once, the strategic balance was completely changed.
The most amazing thing about the Iskander-K is its high-precision strike capabilities. During this operation in Kyiv, the Russian army demonstrated the terrible power of this weapon. It can be launched from a safe distance of up to 1,000 kilometers and can also hit targets with precision.
Ukraine's defensive dilemma
In the face of such advanced weapons, Ukraine's defenses seem to be in vain. Despite the deployment of dense air defense systems in Kyiv, it was not possible to completely stop these missiles.
The appearance of "Iskander-K" directly changed the course of the entire war.
The attack on Kyiv is not only a matter for Russia and Ukraine.
Those countries of NATO, will they increase their support for Ukraine? If so, in what form?
After seeing Russia's strong military strength, Ukraine hopes that Zelensky can see the reality clearly, wake up as soon as possible, and raise his hands.
