For a long time, the United States and its allies have controlled almost the global arms trade, and the weapons they export are sold around the world. There are quite a few countries that are arming themselves with the weapons of the United States and Western countries, such as Saudi Arabia.
Because of its special relationship with the United States, Saudi Arabia has also been able to buy a lot of equipment for the US military in service, including the main battle tanks of the US military. Under such circumstances, the United States and Western countries will also hold some defense exhibitions on a regular basis to publicize their weapons achievements to countries around the world.
For example, not long ago, a grand European defense exhibition was held in Paris, France, which is one of the largest defense exhibitions in the world. At the time of the European Defense Show, more than 2,000 arms companies from 62 countries were attracted.
However, at this European defense exhibition, it was China's arms companies that really attracted everyone's attention.
Our company went directly to the Paris Defense Exhibition, displayed weapons at the door of NATO, and directly and openly robbed the arms market of the United States and Western countries, and American think tanks praised it endlessly.
1. Chinese weapons directly participate in the European arms exhibition
In the past, when the European defense exhibition was held, although Chinese military enterprises would also participate, the number was not large, and there were often only a dozen companies.
However, the number of Chinese military enterprises participating in the European Defense Exhibition this year exceeded 60, and some military enterprises can be regarded as leading enterprises, and they have provided a large number of advanced arms.
At this European Defense Exhibition, the PLZ 52 self-propelled gun developed by Northern Heavy Industries and the very advanced SH15 personnel carrier gun appeared.
These two weapons are based on the 155-mm self-propelled howitzers in service with the People's Liberation Army (PLA) and are export-oriented artillery.
To some extent, this 155-mm howitzer can even be used directly by NATO countries. Because 155 mm caliber artillery is also being used on the NATO side.
Moreover, the two weapons we took out this time are also extremely symbolic, which means that China is able to design and manufacture NATO-standard equipment.
Moreover, it is not weaker than the equipment of the United States and Western countries in terms of performance, and it is even lower in cost, because China is the world's largest manufacturing country.
Many foreigners at the European Defense Show were amazed by China's display of these weapons, including Mortisi, a researcher at the RAND Think Tank.
He openly pointed out that the Chinese artillery presented at the Paris Defense Exhibition is very technologically advanced and surpasses its Russian counterparts in terms of performance and cost-effectiveness.
Moreover, compared with the same type of howitzer in the United States and Western countries, the performance of Chinese products is also more excellent. Therefore, the future market prospects for Chinese howitzers are very broad.
In addition, China is not the same as the United States and Western countries, and we will not put forward some political conditions through the arms trade, and we can accept technology transfer and staff training when necessary.
Therefore, China's arms and arms exports have a unique competitive advantage that other countries' arms do not have.
And now the international environment is also changing, because of the decline of the United States' own influence, many countries are considering strengthening military cooperation with China, such as Saudi Arabia.
They want to reduce their dependence on US arms and import military equipment through diversified channels to ensure their own national defense security.
China, on the other hand, can provide weapons with similar performance and better and cheaper prices than those of the United States and Western countries, and there is no reason why they should not choose China.
Of course, China's arms exports are actually a reflection of the changes in the current market.
Second, the US-Russia military supply war
Originally, the United States and Russia were the world's main arms exporters, and their weapons and equipment were exported to all parts of the world. But now there is one issue that has greatly difled the attention of the United States and Russia, and that is the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
After the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, the Russian side must have prioritized most of its military production capacity for fighting a war with Ukraine. Then it will be impossible for the Russian military-industrial complex to fulfill a large number of foreign orders.
But this will have a great impact on some countries that have already developed dependence on both Soviet and Russian weapons.
For example, India is a typical country that does not have the ability to develop its own weapons, and the vast majority of the advanced weapons it uses are imported.
India's main battle tank is a Russian-made tank, one of India's most powerful combat aircraft, also imported from Russia as a Su-30. India, of course, is unlikely to consider our armament, but other countries do.
At the same time, for the United States, they are also providing a lot of military support to Ukraine. In addition, the United States still has a military expansion plan, and the United States' military spending has been rising, and the American military hopes to buy more advanced weapons.
Therefore, for the US military industry, they must first meet domestic orders and orders to provide support for Ukraine, and then they will consider exporting their weapons to countries around the world.
Then, under the circumstance that the military production capacity of the United States and Russia has been occupied in large quantities, there is indeed a window period in the world arms market. And this window period is an opportunity for China's military industry to hit the world.
And promoting arms exports is not a bad thing for the mainland. Over the past 30 years, we have invested significant resources in the development of the military-industrial system, designing and producing a range of advanced weapons.
But when designing and producing weapons, there is a cost in itself, and this cost is not low. In addition, the mainland's military industrial system is very special, which determines that China's military industry is likely to operate at a loss.
Because most of China's military enterprises are state-owned enterprises, unlike the United States, which are private enterprises. Private enterprises should consider their own profits when engaging in the military industry, but the mainland's military industry gives priority to the performance of equipment and whether it can be used in large quantities.
Then in such a situation, the financial pressure on the military-industrial system is very great.
However, if they can introduce their weapons to the international community in large quantities and earn money back through foreign arms trade orders, they will be able to fill the gap in funds.
The money can also be used to continue to develop advanced arms and weapons, such as sixth-generation fighters, or the next generation of new aircraft carriers, etc., which is the road to a positive cycle.
Moreover, through the export of arms, we can effectively strengthen our cooperative relations with other countries. For example, the close relationship between Saudi Arabia and the United States is also based on military-industrial cooperation and economic cooperation.
But if all the Saudi armies use Chinese weapons in the future, they will naturally be more inclined to China economically and politically.
Because Saudi Arabia relies on Chinese weapons to ensure its own national defense security, which is why we will take the initiative to send so many military enterprises to participate in the European Defense Exhibition.
Our goal is not to launch weapons to NATO, but to sell their own weapons to developing countries that are also participating in this defense exhibition. Let China's military industry really have the opportunity to go to the world and compete with the military industry of the United States and Western countries.
3. China exports arms to many countries
Judging from the weapons that the mainland's military industry department took out to participate in the defense exhibition this time, our military industry has still made a lot of preparations in advance? Most of these weapons are also weapons that have been tested for a long time and do have actual combat experience.
For example, the SH 15 truck gun, which has been exported to several countries, including Pakistan and Ethiopia.
Pakistan bought 236 SH 15 truck guns from us at one time, and nearly 300 units were exported, which has already made a name for SH15.
And the PLZ 52 self-propelled howitzer, another main exhibit, although it has not yet been exported, but he showed it at a military parade on the mainland. At the same time, the excellent performance of the PLZ 52 gun is also almost an international consensus.
The technical experts of the famous arms magazine Review Defense Weekly once said that from the information they have received, the PLZ 52 self-propelled howitzer is completely comparable to the Caesar MK 2 howitzer in terms of performance. And Chinese artillery also has a cost advantage.
It is precisely because these weapons have long been internationally recognized that we will exhibit them at the defense exhibition. I also believe that it will not be long before our military-industrial enterprises will receive good news and win orders from some countries.
As a matter of fact, China's arms exports to the international community have a great deterrent effect on the United States and Western countries. Because China is now almost the only country that has the ability to export weapons in large quantities and replace the PLA with new weapons in large quantities.
As I have said before, the source of the current arms trade window is that the military industrial enterprises of the United States and Russia have to give priority to satisfying their own commercial orders, and at most meet the orders of some allied countries, so there is no way to engage in large-scale arms exports.
But the speed at which the Continental Army produces weapons for its own national army has not been reduced for a moment! The PLA Navy is also able to obtain a large number of new warships launched for service every year, and the production of advanced fighter jets by the PLA Air Force has not stopped for a moment.
Under such circumstances, we are still able to have the capacity to launch weapons to the international community, which shows how strong China's comprehensive national strength is.
In modern warfare, although military science and technology are very important, the production capacity of munitions is equally important. If there is no industrial production capacity, no matter how advanced science and technology is, there is no way to turn technology into weapons.
epilogue
China's arms companies take their own advanced arms to participate in defense exhibitions dominated by the United States and Western countries. To some extent, it is a slap in the face of the United States and Western countries.
China is telling them through practical actions that what the United States and Western countries can do, China can also do. I also believe that China's arms exports will be smoother and smoother in the future!
