My small vegetable garden near the garage in Shidao has become a favorite attraction for my neighbors, and I have to check in several times a day.
Originally, the original site of these small vegetable gardens was a pile of construction waste, "colorful flags" and dusty flying. It's really unsightly. Garbage bags and rags whirring in the wind, a bit of a colorful flag; As soon as the wind came, those concrete faces flew everywhere. The big rocks were disorganized, as if they had come to the mountains; Those bricks and tiles seem to be the ruins of Gaza that have been bombed by Israel!
We wanted to transform this garage into a place for recreation. Such an environment is really contrary to wishes! There is a construction waste pile in front of the garage security door, and you can't get around.
We found an excavator to dig out the construction waste, leveled all the garbage in front of our garage and the neighbors on the left and right, and then laid a cement floor, installed stainless steel railings on the south side, and laid a cement pavement on the west slope and the north side of the site.
After that, I flattened the stones, bricks and tiles from the nearby construction waste pile. The stones were removed, the bricks and tiles were picked out, the large sand and gravel were sifted out, and it was turned into a small vegetable garden.
More than 40 watermelons were planted in the vegetable garden, two trips of unshelfed beans and two trips of cucumbers. There are more than a dozen sunflowers in the middle. Edamame is planted in the surrounding area.
I planted watermelons in discarded plastic baskets, and I planted watermelons in leftover pots. I placed these baskets and pots of watermelons on top of abandoned bungalows and on garbage heaps in the distance to add greenery.
In the process of renovating the vegetable garden, I brought three small truckloads of loess from my hometown and used ten bags of dried chicken manure. It took nearly two months to finally achieve a positive result.
I get up every morning, go to the small vegetable garden, look at the vegetables twice, and my heart is very open! Sitting on a leather chair in the courtyard, drinking tea, watching the sunrise in the east, the verdant Shidao Mountain in the west, and hearing the frogs in the Qinglong River. It's uncomfortable.
