May 12, 2024 is the 16th National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Day in mainland China, in order to further popularize the knowledge of disaster prevention and mitigation among teachers and students, and improve their self-help and self-protection capabilities, Xichang Junior High School in Chengdong Town, Hai'an City, Jiangsu Province recently launched a series of "5.12" disaster prevention and mitigation activities.
Innovate the form and enrich the connotation of publicity. Through the school's electronic display screen, all teachers and students are disseminated to the knowledge of disaster prevention and mitigation, emergency avoidance. Posters and slogans for disaster prevention and mitigation are posted on the billboards to remind students to pay attention to safety at all times, enhance the school's safety culture, and lay a solid foundation for building a safe and harmonious campus environment.
Special speeches to create an educational atmosphere. At the flag-raising ceremony on May 13, a representative of the 8th grade students gave a speech under the national flag of "Disaster Prevention and Mitigation", telling the students about "the origin of the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Day", "the significance of the establishment", and "how to deal with earthquakes and fires" to enhance the students' awareness. Director Wu Zhongqing read out the proposal of "disaster prevention and mitigation" to the students: improve the awareness of disaster risk and establish the idea that "disaster prevention is better than disaster relief"; Learn the knowledge of disaster prevention and mitigation, and improve the skills of disaster avoidance and self-rescue; insist on starting from the details and strengthen family safety precautions; Participate in disaster prevention and mitigation activities to create a strong atmosphere for disaster prevention and mitigation.
Organize drills to improve protection capabilities. Before the drill, a detailed plan was formulated to clarify the purpose, process, participants and respective responsibilities of the drill, and all teachers and students were publicized and educated on disaster prevention and mitigation knowledge to understand the hazards of disasters and prevention and response measures. During the exercise, nearly 600 students evacuated to a safe area quickly and orderly under the command of each class teacher according to the predetermined evacuation route. Through the drill, they are familiar with the evacuation process, learn how to stay calm and act quickly in an emergency, and further enhance the awareness and self-protection ability of teachers and students to prevent various emergencies.
Hold class meetings to increase your knowledge of disaster prevention. Each class held a class meeting on disaster prevention and mitigation, and broadcast a disaster prevention and mitigation promotional video, covering how to deal with common disasters such as earthquakes, fires, floods, and typhoons, as well as how to save themselves and each other in an emergency. Through discussions, sharing, etc., students have a deeper understanding of the importance of disaster prevention and mitigation, and strive to improve their disaster prevention and risk avoidance capabilities.
