According to a number of Korean media reports on May 18, the well-known South Korean singer Kim Ho-joong fled after driving a car on the evening of the 9th, and his agent was exposed by the police afterwards.
Footage from the scene shows that at around 11:40 p.m. on the 9th, the vehicle driven by Kim Ho-joong collided with a taxi on a road in Apgujeong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and did not get out of the car to check the situation, but continued to drive and flee the scene. His agent went to the police to turn himself in three hours after the accident, wearing the clothes worn by Kim Ho-joong at the time of the accident, but was exposed. The police's repeated phone calls and text messages to Kim Ho-joong to go to the police station to cooperate with the investigation were ignored, and it was not until 17 hours later that Kim Ho-joong arrived. He underwent a breathalyzer test and the result was negative.
The agent lied to the police that he had taken the initiative to hold the steering wheel and had failed to handle the accident properly because of Kim Ho-joong's panic disorder. But unlike his agent's testimony, according to public video footage, it can be clearly seen that Kim Ho-joong was talking to someone after the accident with his hand in his pocket near the accident site. After that, he did not go home either, but took another agent's car and stopped at a hotel in the Gyeonggi area. In addition, the agency took the memory card of the dashcam in his car and damaged it.
The National Institute of Scientific Investigation told the police that Kim Ho-jung detected that his drinking metabolites exceeded the drinking judgment standard within 20 hours of the accident, so he must have been in a state of drinking before the accident. Although he is now mired in the whirlpool of public opinion, Kim Ho-joong's concerts on the 18th and 19th went on as usual, causing dissatisfaction among many South Korean people.
