The exhibition "City and Mausoleum" mainly displays the site selection concept, political pattern, design ideas and spiritual pursuit of national projects in the Qin and Han dynasties through the archaeological excavation results of four large ruins of the Qin and Han dynasties, such as Yongcheng, Liyang, Xianyang and Chang'an, and explains the historical value and value of the times of historical and cultural heritage. A total of more than 400 cultural relics are on display in the exhibition, and most of the exhibits are on display for the first time, except for the Seal of the Queen, a star cultural relic.

The space of the exhibition is limited, and the theme structure of "City and Mausoleum" is grand, so the exhibition has made "additions" to the exhibition hall space.
On the one hand, the planning extension has been made to the outdoors, such as the miniature "Shanglin Garden" created in the corner of the outdoor courtyard of the exhibition hall with Maoling stone carvings, waterfowl and other cultural relics; In the exhibition hall outside the exhibition room, the ancient bridge piles found around the ruins of Chang'an City of the Han Dynasty are set up, revealing the objective fact that although the structural materials of bridges, bridge piles and other components have changed in the evolution of the millennium, the ancient and modern are in the same line, and their functions and cores have always been the same, guiding the audience to understand and reflect on history from the side.
At the same time, the second floor of the barrier-free space is also creatively developed in the interior space, and the cultural relics are matched with multimedia installations to reproduce the style of the Han Chang'an City ruins.
The exhibition makes clever use of indoor and outdoor space, combining traditional culture with modern design concepts, bringing visitors an educational and interesting visiting experience.
In addition, the exhibition is not just as simple as increasing the area, the entire layout of the "City and Mausoleum" is designed according to the map of the large ruins.
The main display content of Yongcheng, Liyang and Xianyang is distributed on or adjacent to the curved ramp in the hall, and the space is designed to symbolize the platform on the north side of the Wei River with the ramp steps, carrying the display content of the North Palace of Qindu.
Correspondingly, the comprehensive display of Chang'an City of the Han Dynasty and the Mausoleum of the Han Emperor and the topography of Guanzhong echo the model of the imperial capital Chang'an. Changhong is surrounded, and the image of the arch guard of the tomb represents the grand layout of the grand style. The design fits the time and space, the direction and even the location relationship between the large ruins, and echoes the development and layout of the Qin and Han palaces and mausoleums in the interior of the building with the ingenuity of the layout, turning everything into infinity and extending the world at hand.

"The city and the mausoleum" also implies another unspoken theme - "life and death".
Many people subconsciously think that the "city" is the world of the living, and the "mausoleum" is the world of the dead. In fact, it is not so simple to define this black tone showroom.
In order to reflect the theme and let the audience get more understanding of history and cultural relics, the staff put a lot of thought into it. Not only the exhibition hall is cleverly arranged, so that the part of the "city" is displayed on the high platform, and the part of the "mausoleum" is below, and the cultural relics are adjusted, such as the tomb beast and other unearthed burial utensils are displayed under the stage, and the daily use of cultural relics such as bronze mirrors and cups are displayed on the second floor.
