"Beyond Horizons: International Esperanto Philatelic Exhibition" was held at the Esperanto Museum

May 18, 2024 is the 48th International Museum Day, and the theme of this year's Museum Day is "Museums Committed to Education and Research". In order to celebrate the International Museum Day and promote and popularize the knowledge of Esperanto culture and history to the public, teachers and students in the university, the "Crossing the Horizon - International Esperanto Philatelic Exhibition" hosted by the International Esperanto Museum of Zaozhuang University and undertaken by Shandong Green Light Culture Communication Co., Ltd. was held in the temporary exhibition hall of the Esperanto Museum of Zaozhuang University Central Campus.

"Small square inch, big world", this exhibition selects more than 200 precious stamps, decals, postcards, commemorative envelopes, etc. from the thousands of philatelic products collected by the Esperanto Museum in the past ten years, and a total of more than 121 pieces (sets) of Chinese grade philatelic products. The collection mainly comes from 28 countries and regions, including Brazil, Poland, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Germany, Russia, France, Vatican, Cuba, South Korea, the former Czechoslovakia, Lithuania, Malta, Mexico, the United States, the former Yugoslavia, Austria, Sweden, Japan, the former Soviet Union, Suriname, Ukraine, Hungary, Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom, and China. The exhibition focuses on the development of the Esperanto movement and the spread of Esperanto culture in different historical periods.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Zhang Yan, director of the All-China Esperanto Association, chairman of the Shandong Esperanto Club, and director of the Cultural and Creative Center of the Esperanto Museum.

Sun Mingxiao, executive director of the All-China Esperanto Association and expert in the construction and research of Esperanto Museum, Sasha, vice chairman of the International Association of Esperanto Teachers and distinguished Italian professor of Esperanto at Zaozhuang University, Choi Bangyuan, a famous Korean Esperanto scholar and distinguished professor of Esperanto at Zaozhuang University, and Zhang Yifan, director of the Management Office of the Esperanto Museum, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Nearly 200 teachers and students from the School of Optoelectronic Engineering, the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the School of Life Sciences, the School of Psychology and Educational Sciences, the School of International Education (foreign students), and Zaozhuang No. 41 Middle School visited the exhibition. Sun Mingxiao, an expert in the construction of the Esperanto Museum, guided the visitors.

After the visit, some of the participants visited the Cultural and Creative Center of the Esperanto Museum, the Asian Library of the International Esperanto Association, the Cultural Relics Restoration Room and the Cultural Relics Preservation Room.

The exhibition effectively promoted Esperanto, expanded the visitors' international horizons, increased their understanding of the Esperanto movement and their recognition of the ideals of a common language.
