That's right, it's Loongson!

In fact, when it comes to domestic CPUs, there are many manufacturers such as Loongson, Haiguang, Feiteng, Kunpeng, Zhaoxin, Shenwei, etc., which are currently divided into a variety of technical routes, mainly including x86, arm, riscv, etc., and these are foreign instruction sets, and the security is relatively low.

For example, while RISCV is ostensibly open source, anyone can use it. But recently there has been news that the United States wants to attack RISCV. Therefore, as long as it is not our own, it is difficult to be truly safe.

Loongson's CPU, using the self-developed LoongArch instruction set, can be 100% secure.

According to Loongson's official news, in the first quarter of this year, the total shipments of Loongson's 3A5000 and 3A6000 chips have reached the level of the whole year of 2023. There can be applause here!

Among them, the Loongson 3A6000 is worth mentioning.

It is the first product to adopt Loongson's fourth-generation microarchitecture, integrating four newly developed high-performance 6-emission 64-bit LA664 processor cores, and using a self-designed instruction system and architecture, without relying on foreign authorized technology, it can also run a variety of cross-platform applications.

Compared with the previous generation, the performance of 3A6000 has been greatly improved, with the single-thread performance increased by more than 60% under the same process, and the multi-threaded performance of the whole chip has been doubled.

In addition, although the operating frequency of Loongson 3A6000 is only 2.5GHz, according to the test of the Saixi Laboratory of China Electronics Standardization Institute, the overall performance of Loongson 3A6000 is comparable to the 10th generation Core processor launched by Intel in 2020, that is, the i3-10100 of 3.6GHz.

At last year's press conference, ASUS, a major motherboard manufacturer, also said that after downclocking Intel's 13th generation i5 processor to the same frequency as Loongson 3A6000, the performance of the two is comparable. It can be seen that this domestic CPU has reached a very strong level.

And these also mean that 3A6000 can meet most of the needs of office, entertainment, learning and other aspects.

The performance progress is certainly pleasantly surprised, but even more important is the implementation of the application. After the release of Loongson 3A6000, dozens of manufacturers have released various products based on 3A6000 such as desktop computers, notebooks, boards, storage products, network security equipment, industrial control computers, etc., covering multiple scenarios such as information office, entertainment, industrial control, intelligent manufacturing, smart home, and digital hardware.

For example, related computer products can run large-scale 3D games smoothly, using common office software and industry software such as WeChat, DingTalk, ZWCAD, WPS, etc.

So the sales volume in the first quarter of 2024 can achieve such good results, which also shows that Loongson 3A6000 has been truly commercialized and market-oriented operation has been realized, which is the most gratifying.

It is important to have a breakthrough in technology, but if this technology cannot be applied in practice, it will not make much sense.

In addition, there is good news, for the first time, Loongson Zhongke also said that the next generation of 3B6600 and 3B7000 are also coming soon. Among them, the 3B6600 is clocked at 3.0GHz and integrates LG200 GPU. The main frequency of 3B7000 has reached 3.5GHz, which is worth looking forward to.

In short, with the advent of 3A6000, domestic independent CPUs have officially entered a new historical stage, and it is no longer a luxury to completely get rid of dependence on foreign processors.

Because of the upgrade and iteration of processors and the continuous development of the ecosystem, Loongson said that the ultimate goal of the Dragon architecture is to become a top-level architecture alongside X86 and ARM. This reminds me of the HarmonyOS operating system, which will one day become the top operating system on a par with Android, ios, and even Windows and linux.
