None of the 12 ammunition men could keep up with his rate of fire: 6 shots in 240 minutes, 4 shells were in the air at the same time

author:Extraordinary Black Sorkin

In the TV series "Bright Sword", Li Yunlong was ordered to annihilate the Yamazaki Brigade that accidentally broke into the base area with 3,600 grenades. But in reality, it was the artillery god Zhao Zhangcheng who played an important role in this battle, who alone fired 240 shells in 6 minutes, making the enemy mistakenly believe that the Eighth Route Army had dispatched an artillery regiment.

Zhao Zhangcheng was originally an artillery member in Feng Yuxiang's Northwest Army and joined the Red Army in 1931. But at this time, the Red Army had very few artillery, and there was no room for him to show it at all, and it was not until 1935 when the Red Army crossed the Dadu River during the Long March that Zhao Zhangcheng became famous in a war.

At that time, there were several enemy pillboxes on the opposite bank of the Dadu River, and the Red Army only found one small boat, which could only carry 18 people across the river at a time. The enemy had tightly blocked the river with firepower, and without fire support, it would have been impossible to cross the river successfully.

101 So he ordered Zhao Zhangcheng to open fire and suppress. However, the soil by the river was very soft, and it was impossible to set up the cannon correctly, so Zhao Zhangcheng could only hold the barrel with one hand and measure the distance with the other. There were only three shells in total, and each one was extremely precious, and there was no chance of test firing. But that's it, Zhao Zhangcheng still killed the enemy's three pillboxes with three cannons.

Seeing this, the remaining enemies thought that the Red Army had heavy artillery support, and did not dare to fight at all, so they turned around and ran, and the Red Army successfully crossed the Dadu River. Zhao Zhangcheng also became famous because of this, and even 101, who never praised people, praised him and said that his artillery was not tactical, but artistic!

can be called art, that must be a level that ordinary people can't play. The tiny mortar seemed to be a living creature in his hands. In September 1940, the 385th Brigade of the Eighth Route Army attacked the Guantou stronghold near Liao County, and Zhao Zhangcheng showed his "art of shelling".

There are four pillboxes in the stronghold of the head of the pipe, all of which are made of double-layer reinforced concrete sandwich walls, and Zhao Zhangcheng knows that the small cannons in his hands can't help them at all. So he came up with a way to force the enemy out of the bunkers and expose them to the fire of the Eighth Route Army.

He had paprika from a nearby village fetched, poured out some of the explosives from the warhead of the cannonball, mixed it in, stirred it well, and then installed a fuse, and a chili cannonball did just that. In one night, he and his comrades made a total of 20 chili cannonballs, which came in handy the next day.

When these pepper shells exploded outside the bunker, the thick and spicy smoke drifted from the shooting hole to the inside of the bunker, and the devils inside were choked with tears and ran out of the bunker one after another. In the end, it only took 10 minutes for our army to take the stronghold of Guantou without a single casualty, and Zhao Zhangcheng's "art of shelling" made another great contribution.

In Zhao Zhangcheng's military career, the most thrilling one was the battle of Guanjiayuan in the Battle of the Hundred Regiments. At that time, in order to relieve the siege of the headquarters organs, Zhao Zhangcheng rushed to the feet of the Okazaki Brigade of the 39th Division of the Devil with a mortar and a dozen soldiers.

The Okazaki Brigade is the Yamazaki Brigade in "Bright Sword". At that time, they were on a cliff, and Zhao Zhangcheng was under the cliff, with a vertical distance of 34 meters. General Ding Benchun, who was then an instructor of the 9th Company of the Artillery Regiment, later recalled the battle and said:

"In order to be able to hit the enemy on the mountain, Zhao Zhangcheng used an extra-large shooting angle of 88.5 degrees."

This angle of fire is extremely dangerous, because it is only 1.5 degrees to be completely vertical, and the shells will fall vertically back to the same place. Even if the angle remains the same, if the wind direction and wind speed change slightly, it may cause the shell to fall back to its original place, and if there is a slight miss, Zhao Zhangcheng, who fired the cannon, will fall into a situation from which he will never recover.

But Zhao Zhangcheng succeeded. Not only did he succeed, but he fired 240 shells in six minutes, an average of 40 rounds per minute, breaking the previous record for the fastest rate of fire of a mortar in the world at 30 rounds per minute. At most, there were 4 shells flying in the sky at the same time.

All 240 shells fell on the positions of the Okazaki brigade, and the Okazaki brigade was so dizzy that it didn't even know where the shells came from, and more than 400 devils were reimbursed. The captives later said that they thought that the Eighth Route Army had dispatched an artillery regiment when they were suddenly hit by such heavy firepower, but in fact the Eighth Route Army had only one cannon.

In order to ensure Zhao Zhangcheng's rate of fire, 8 fighters installed fuses on the shells, and 4 fighters served as ammunition bearers to supply him with shells, but 12 people still couldn't keep up with his speed. If 12 people could keep up, it might not be the record of 240 shells.

This hand-loaded speed has not been broken so far. Mr. Peng later learned the details and praised that the victory of Guan Jiayuan was the victory of the artillery. In 1955, Zhao Zhangcheng was awarded the rank of major general.
