The sorrel of wild grasses that I ate as a child

author:Aries Xiaowen 2021

This kind of purple flowers can be seen everywhere in the park, on the side of the road, everyone will not be unfamiliar. Every time I saw it, I would crouch down and admire the beautiful clusters of flowers. Then I wondered, this cluster is so lush, its little turnips have grown. The small radish I am talking about is the rhizome of the white radish in the picture.

I didn't know its scientific name until I just checked it with Du Niang, and it turned out to be called sorrel. When we were children, we called it Sour Grass. Because its leaves are sour, it is one of the weeds that we are freed from. The child, who was slightly older than us, told us that its rhizome was like a small white radish that could be eaten. I heard that I could eat it, and immediately pulled out the strongest clusters, wow, there are small turnips! It was too late to wash it, shake the mud, rub the skin of the small radish with its leaves, and eat it. Needless to say, it's pretty sweet and delicious!

Whenever I think of those days when I think of those days when I am looking for stuttering, going up the mountains and rivers, going up the trees and plowing the soil, and the innocent childhood, there will always be a warmth in my heart, and a smile will unconsciously appear on my face.
