According to the scope of the project in the bidding documents, the west extension section of Line 14 starts from Gangxia North Station, passes through the Convention and Exhibition Center and Shopping Park area to the west, passes through the Shenzhen Golf Plot, and enters the Xiangmi Lake area, with a length of about 4.5km.

Line 14 is an express rail line in operation on the eastern development axis of Shenzhen, with a total length of 50.34 kilometers, a total of 18 stations, and 8-car A-type trains, with a maximum operating speed of 120 km/h.
In order to strengthen the service of the rail express line to the central area of the city, and strengthen the direct connection between the eastern areas such as Buji, Longgang and Pingshan and the core area of Futian, the "Shenzhen Rail Transit Network Planning (2016-2035)" proposes to extend Line 14 west to the west of the Convention and Exhibition Center on the basis of the existing operating lines, with an extension of about 1.6 kilometers and a total length of 53.7 kilometers after the extension (from the west of the Convention and Exhibition Center to the boundary of Shenzhen and Huizhou).
In order to further exert the express line function of Line 14, strengthen the direct connection between the high employment concentration area in the downtown area and the eastern areas such as Buji, Longgang and Pingshan, and support the development and construction of Xiangmihu Financial Center; At the same time, in order to realize the connection between Line 14 and Line 20 and Line 22, the passenger flow transfer pressure of Line 11 and Line 14 of Gangxia North Station will be relieved. In the process of compiling the construction plan for the fifth phase of the railway, Shenzhen proposed to extend Line 14 from Gangxia North Station to the west of Xiangmihu area.
