On the one hand, it contains a lot of methods and truths for people and things, and on the other hand, it is also exquisite in its handling of details.
It can be said that there is not a single superfluous sentence in the whole play, not a single superfluous shot, every dialogue in the scene, and every detail is full of profound meaning.
For example, Nian Qianyao's death!
Before he was given death by Emperor Yongzheng, he once played chess with the little shepherd boy who was herding cattle, and when he made a critical move, he hesitated and deliberately lost to the little shepherd boy. Subsequently, he followed Li Wei, who came to see him back to the west, into the city gate cave, and in desperation, he took out a string of Buddhist beads and asked Li Wei to return it to Emperor Yongzheng.
So, why did he deliberately lose the chess, and why did he return the Buddha beads?

Not long after Nian Qianyao won the victory in Qinghai, he was removed from his post by Emperor Yongzheng for killing Sun Jiacheng!
At that time, Tu Lichen went to announce the decree as a minister, and in front of Nian Qianyao, he listed his two major crimes:
One is that the ghost took away your soul, Sun Jiacheng is a loyal minister known to the government and the opposition, and you actually killed him! The second is, why did you write "Chao Qian Xi Ti" as "Sunset Chao Qian" on the fold, and you actually treated me like this, it was crazy!
In this case, then you can also choose to be a general or not, now you can't be a general, go to Hangzhou to be a general, Yue Zhongqi will take over as a general.
It can be said that one stone stirred up a thousand waves, and with Emperor Yongzheng's statement, other officials finally found a reason. Regardless of whether they know each other or not, whether they have hatred or not, they all showed the strength not to force Nian Qianyao to die. Even Zhang Tingyu, who has always been wise and self-protecting, known as "a gentleman is not a party", said bad things about Nian Qianyao in front of Emperor Yongzheng, saying:
"If this person doesn't go for a day, the emperor's holy name will be tarnished every day!"
In the end, Emperor Yongzheng made up his mind to force Nian Qianyao, who had been downgraded 18 levels in a row and was a gatekeeper at a city gate in Hangzhou at this time, to a dead end!
In fact, the city gate guarded by Nian Qianyao is very desolate, and no one usually passes by there at all. He lived in a dilapidated kiln, ate coarse tea and light rice, and the yellow coat he wore was already filthy, and he sat at the gate of the city every day to bask in the sun. The only person who was willing to get close to him was a teenage shepherd boy, and judging from his affectionate call "Daddy", the two of them often played chess and played together.
Two
You must know that Nian Qianyao is a person who will be strong all his life, not to mention the little shepherd boy in front of him, even the emperor, he dares to fight!
Nian Qianyao's life was spent in constant struggle, Sichuan suppressed bandits, bloodbathed Jiangxia Town, contained the old fourteen Yinyu, killed Fu Ning'an, deterred the imperial guards, and forced the old nine Yinyu to kneel......
Later, after he won a great victory in Qinghai, after he returned to Beijing, he not only despised the hundred officials who knelt down to greet him, but even Emperor Yongzheng, who refused to crown him as king, dared to take the matter of "removing the armor":
"They only know the military order, not the emperor!"
Even if Nian Qianyao was later demoted to the general of Hangzhou, he refused to give in on the pomp, so much so that the housekeeper Lao Sang cried and persuaded him:
"Second master, it's not an old slave who says in vain, the earth doesn't fight with the sky, and the son doesn't fight with the father, this ...... You can't fight the emperor! ”
However, when facing the little shepherd boy, Nian Qianyao, who was born as a jinshi, could even see the chess game that even our children of a few years old could see, but he hesitated for a moment, deliberately made a wrong move, and lost to the little shepherd boy.
Why did he do it?
Besides, when Nian Qianyao saw that Li Wei had arrived at him, before the other party could speak, he understood what was going on and asked for the holy decree directly. And after receiving the commandment, he didn't even open it, and began to cry. After crying for a while, he turned around and took off the Buddhist beads in his hand and threw them on the table:
"Dog, give this back to him for me!"
Subsequently, he didn't even bring his head back, and he didn't even look at the food brought by Li Wei, and he went into the distance crying, which also indicated that his life had completely come to an end.
So, who is the "he" in his mouth, and why did he return the Buddhist beads in his hand to "him"?
Three
In fact, Nian Qianyao ended up with such a tragic ending, although there were factors of his own making, but more importantly, he was calculated by someone with a heart!
It can be said that this caring person not only calculated Nian Qianyao, but also took Emperor Yongzheng to the pit! This is also after Nian Qianyao was executed, Emperor Yongzheng, who realized it later, was full of remorse, although he didn't admit it, and he insisted that he didn't believe that "if he dies, the butcher will eat the hairy pig", but he has long regretted his death.
Of course, although this bureau was set up by someone with a heart, without the cooperation of Emperor Yongzheng, it really couldn't have been done.
Only by explaining the logic behind the whole incident can we understand why Nian Qianyao lost to the little shepherd boy in chess before he died? can figure out what he is thinking these days, whether he has seen through the whole "chess game", why did he choose to end his life by howling and crying as a generation of heroes?
Okay, with these questions, let's turn around first, and then look at the charges that the court gave to Nian Qianyaoan.
Although there are 92 counts of crimes, if you really look at them carefully, some of them are too subjective, some of them are trivial, and some of them are completely false and deliberately fabricated.
For example, after being demoted to the general of Hangzhou, I don't go to thank him, this is a complaint, deliberately against the emperor, and it is not in line with the etiquette system. Go to the thanksgiving fold, and let Emperor Yongzheng, who in the thatched house, scold, saying that he doesn't know how to be honest, and he is demoted and still has the face to mention the word "thanksgiving"?
Another example is the death of the Queen Mother Wu Yashi, some ministers even played a fold, saying that the Queen Mother was angry with Nian Qianyao. In addition, Zhang Tingyu said in front of Emperor Yongzheng that Nian Qianyao took his concubine to swagger through the market after the death of the Empress Dowager Wu Ya. You say, where is this reasonable, should Nian Qianyao have no conscience and divorce all these concubines?
Four
Then again, Nian Qianyao has been targeted, can't all the generals in the world take their concubines out?
When Nian Qianyao dismissed his wife's room, drove away the housekeeper, and was left alone to guard the city gate, the hundred officials still refused to let him go. In the end, Emperor Yongzheng was forced to make up his mind to kill Nian Qianyao, but it was corruption, embezzling more than 4 million taels of silver.
This seems like a lot of money, after all, when the Yellow River was flooded, the entire treasury couldn't even take out a million taels of silver, but it was not!
How much money Nian Qianyao had in his hand, Emperor Yongzheng knew very well in his heart, to put it bluntly, there were more than so many silver taels taken away from Jiangxia Town in the bloodbath. After all, Ren Bo'an respects the old Jiuyinyu every year, and he gives one million taels and one million taels, which shows the abundance of his family's wealth.
Afterwards, Lao Jiu Yinyu complained to Lao Ba Yinyu:
"The millions of taels of silver we have worked so hard to accumulate can't just let him be plundered."
In fact, since the Kangxi Dynasty, official corruption has been well known.
Why did the fourth Yinzhen and the thirteenth Yinxiang choose to go to Yangzhou to raise funds for disaster relief?
Isn't it clear in my heart that there are many rich officials like Ren Boan in Jiangnan, and only from these officials can they "exploit" the silver.
Including Wei Dongting, an old Kangxi minister who was forced to commit suicide because of the arrears of the household department, when he went to the old thirteen Yinxiang for help, the old thirteen Yinxiang was very puzzled. Said that you didn't manage the luck of the river before, you should have made a lot of money, how could you be so poor that you borrowed money from the household department?
Wei Dongting is also honest, 1510 told the old thirteen Yinxiang that the old man Kangxi made several southern tours, and twice lived in his own house. It is equivalent to Wei Dongting being responsible for all the expenses, so he spent all the money he had saved.

So, did Emperor Kangxi really not know about this, why didn't he reimburse others?
Of course I know, the emperor is not stupid, Wei Dongting's officials can make a year, he knows in his heart. Although it will cost millions of taels to live in his house twice, with his understanding of Wei Dongting's official position, he can completely bear it.
In fact, the fourth Yinzhen later scolded Wei Dongting's son and pointed out the real reason for their family's arrears:
"If it weren't for you unfilial sons, who squandered and drank all day, would your old man have owed so many debts?"
Even Cao Yin's house, where Emperor Kangxi stayed four times, was once impeached for embezzling more than 3 million taels of public funds. Emperor Kangxi understood what was going on in his heart, and he only hinted that the other party should hurry up and make up for the deficit, which was to imply that he was going to embezzle.
There is also Lao Bayinxi, who is known as the "Eight Sages King", and he was raided once. He can still hide 10 million taels of silver tickets and distribute them to his family, so you can imagine how many taels of silver he has to be greedy?
To put it bluntly, corruption is not a crime that Nian Qianyao must die, only if the emperor wants someone to die, he will talk about corruption, and it has been like this since ancient times, check it casually, there are no exceptions.
In other words, how much money Nian Qianyao was greedy for, Emperor Yongzheng knew it clearly. You must know that when Emperor Yongzheng was not yet the emperor, every year the mother concubine had a birthday, Fujin had a birthday, and he had a birthday. In addition, during the New Year's holidays, Nian Qianyao didn't fall once, and he didn't send anything to his family.
Moreover, the fourth Yinzhen knew very well that with Nian Qianyao's wealth, he couldn't afford such an expensive gift. For example, when Concubine Wu Ya's birthday came, Nian Qianyao prepared a big gift, and he couldn't afford to give him money if he wanted to:
"These things are worth a lot of money, and his annual income is only a few cents, aren't you conniving at his greed?"
Six
This is to the point, Nian Qianyao was finally abandoned by Emperor Yongzheng, and ended up like this, which was the result of being connived at by Emperor Yongzheng. This kind of indulgence is not only limited to greed for money, but also includes his murderous and competitive spirit.
Moreover, Nian Qianyao's tragic ending was told by Ren Bo'an as early as when he was bloodbathing Jiangxia Town.
Before Nian Qianyao set off for Jiangxia Town, he once gave Zhang Tingyu a gift, trying to set it up, and received some good words and aphorisms. In fact, Zhang Tingyu did point out his problem to his face, that is, he was too angry, and hoped that he would be more benevolent and less angry.
It's a pity that Nian Qianyao didn't listen to this advice at all, and was soon left behind by him. Originally, he pretended to be a robber and wanted to arrest Liu Ba Nu in Jiangxia Town and leave, but suddenly found that there was a huge wealth hidden here. Under the ghost's confusion, the murderous heart was painful, and the men, women and children of the village, including the officers and soldiers stationed in the local area, did not leave any behind, and washed Jiangxia Town in blood.
Ren Bo'an and Liu Ba Nu saw that Nian Qianyao was so vicious, so before they died, they cursed him:
"Nian Qianyao, you are so vicious, you are not good...... You must not ...... Die! ”
In fact, as early as when Nian Qianyao was the governor of Sichuan, his viciousness had been exposed. Otherwise, others have not solved the bandit problem for more than ten years, and he will be cleared up after a year in office. It is conceivable that in the process of suppressing bandits, there are still many tragedies like Jiangxia Town.
Perhaps it was the bloodbath in Jiangxia Town that inspired Nian Qianyao, and also made him run wildly on the road of killing, out of control, which can be described as people blocking and killing, and Buddha blocking and killing Buddha.
Seven
So, who gave Nian Qianyao the confidence to dare to make such a reckless killing decision?
That's right, it's the fourth Yinzhen, the future Emperor Yongzheng!
This is to mention the string of Buddhist beads that Nian Qianyao threw away before his death, his original owner was Lao Si Yinzhen, who was given to Nian Qianyao after the bloodbath of Jiangxia Town.
When Nian Qianyao washed Jiangxia Town in blood and returned to Beijing, there was a picture of the fourth Yinzhen chanting Buddha, Nian Qianyao kneeling there, and there was a letter on the table.
The matter of greedy for money in Jiangxia Town is not what Lao Si Yinzhen cares about the most, he cares more about Nian Qianyao's indiscriminate killing of innocents. However, who can say that it is not the idea of the fourth Yinzhen to wash Jiangxia Town in blood?
After all, he and the old thirteen Yinxiang endured the "humiliation of dismounting" by Liu Banu, the old thirteen was so angry that he shouted that he had never suffered this kind of anger since he was a child, and the fourth Yinzhen also hated to leave a sentence:
"Listen, from now on, no one is allowed to mention the words 'Jiangxia Town' again!"
However, the fourth Yinzhen believes in Buddhism, although Nian Qianyao helped him out with a bad breath, but he finally couldn't get rid of it. So, on the one hand, he told Nian Qianyao that if something big happened, he would be in his pocket, and on the other hand, he also imprisoned him in the Berlin Temple and repented.
After Nian Qianyao came out of the Berlin Temple, he finally figured it out, recognized his position, and said to his master:
"Master, you are the reincarnation of a Bodhisattva, and the slave should be a Vajra who protects the Dharma!"
What does it mean?
It's that the master is merciful and can't bear to kill, but the Dharma Protector can, and I will hand over this dirty work to the Dharma Protector in the future!
Eight
Sure enough, the fourth Yinzhen was very satisfied with the call that Nian Qianyao said, nodded frequently, and replied:
"If you can realize this, you can see that the Dharma is boundless!"
Then, he handed the Buddha beads in his hand to Nian Qianyao's hands. It was from this time on, that Nian Qianyao, as the "thug" of the fourth Yinzhen, charged forward and moved forward bravely.
The fourth Yinzhen can win the throne, and Nian Qianyao is also a great achievement, but he has watched the old fourteenth Yinzhen who holds the army in the northwest. Including after Emperor Yongzheng ascended the throne, he successively made a mistake in recovering the arrears of the treasury, minting copper coins of the New Dynasty and opening a branch of scholars. Only on the side of the war in the northwest, Nian Qianyao fought for him and let him sit on the throne.
And if Nian Qianyao wants to win this battle, he still relies on the decision to kill, and the military law is strict.
shot Fu Ning'an, Emperor Yongzheng said, sometimes in order to control the overall situation, he had to do this; cut and delayed the arrival of military food, Emperor Yongzheng's son-in-law Ha Qingsheng, Emperor Yongzheng also issued an order to commend; Even the dignified feudal official, Gansu Governor Fan Shijie, said that he would be dismissed, and Emperor Yongzheng did not say a word.
Because he knew very well in his heart that if he wanted to win the battle in the northwest, Nian Qianyao's approach was not bad.
Moreover, Nian Qianyao did not escape the supervision of Emperor Yongzheng, before he knew that Li Wei was the one who monitored him, but he still brought it to Sichuan. After that, he also knew that General Yue Zhongqi was not in line with him, and probably became the eyeliner of Emperor Yongzheng, and he also made his deputy marshal.
Speaking of which, it is necessary to say a few more words, which mentions a detail of Nian Qianyao's presence in the Northwest Camp.
Nine
That is, after Nian Qianyao subdued the ten imperial guards sent by Emperor Yongzheng and set up a banquet to entertain him, General Yi Xing'a came in to gather military information.
He mentioned two things, one was that the 50,000 military horses guarding Batang were about to run out of food and grass, and they could only last for another ten days at most. The second thing is that the 80,000 soldiers guarding Huangteng Pass have not been paid for two months, and it will be difficult to bring soldiers if they go on like this.
If it goes on like this, it will be difficult to bring the soldiers, it is not Yi Xing'a who said it, but he relayed the words of General Yue Zhongqi.
Of course, he asked General Ixinga to report on the military situation, and it was also for the guards present to read. It is also hoped that through them, the lack of grain and grass on the front line will be reported to the imperial court, so that grain and grass can be supplied in time.
However, after he asked his soldiers to cut off their hands, he once said that each person would be given 3,000 taels of silver to recuperate from his wounds, and he would entertain ten guards with a sumptuous meal, which was not like not being able to pay the soldiers. So, as his deputy marshal and General Yue Zhongqi, why didn't he pay him a full salary?
One of the very important reasons is that because General Yue Zhongqi can send a secret fold to Emperor Yongzheng, which can confirm that there is indeed a shortage of food and grass on the front line, so that everyone will not suspect that Nian Qianyao has reported false accounts.
Even Yi Xing'a, another who was not discovered by Nian Qianyao, gave Emperor Yongzheng a secret fold, although he mentioned that the waste in the army was more serious, but also emphasized that it was indeed a shortage of grain and grass.
To get back to the point, the reason why Nian Qianyao offended so many people in the northwest was actually to fulfill his King Kong mission. He is doing what the Dharma protector should do, taking on his own notoriety and clearing the obstacles for the Bodhisattva.
At this point, when trapping Fu Ning'an, Nian Qianyao asked Emperor Yongzheng, and Emperor Yongzheng replied:
"You have to have thunder means, you can't be soft in the slightest, what to do, let it go, I will support you, even if you do it wrong, I won't blame you."
Ten
That is to say, over the years, Nian Qianyao and Emperor Yongzheng have reached a tacit understanding, Nian Qianyao is doing dirty work in front of him, bearing infamy, and Emperor Yongzheng provides him with shelter.
It's a pity that after Nian Qianyao won the victory in Qinghai, everything changed, and Emperor Yongzheng was no longer a compassionate Guanyin Bodhisattva, and he was also very disappointed in his own protector and no longer provided protection.
When Nian Qianyao was playing chess with the little shepherd boy, he suddenly realized that he was not a chess player, but a chess piece in the board, or a chess piece in the wrong position.
Yes, he and his master used to have such a tacit understanding, and at the wine table, he had clearly rejected the three requests put forward by Emperor Yongzheng. And Emperor Yongzheng also recognized his justification, but when he turned his head, Sun Jiacheng was still moving towards the plan he had clearly refused.
What does that mean?
Could it be that you, Sun Jiacheng, want to replace me as the protector of Guanyin Bodhisattva?
Why did Nian Qianyao never return on the way to death?
In fact, he still has illusions about Emperor Yongzheng, on the one hand, he is kind to Emperor Yongzheng and the Qing Dynasty. At the beginning, Emperor Yongzheng made it clear that even if he made a mistake, he would not blame him. Even if he demoted himself for a while, he would still reactivate it in the future when he remembered his old favor.
Secondly, he also understands that he has offended too many people during his years as a Dharma protector. Once he admits it, those "enemies" think that he is better to bully, and they will fall into the well and kill him desperately.
To put it bluntly, if Emperor Yongzheng can grit his teeth to death, he just doesn't express his position, the more Tang Yao shows his "strength" that year, and he is the one who gives the sword and the yellow coat, and others can't do anything about him.
In fact, Emperor Yongzheng did not fight for Nian Qianyao again, everyone see, later the hundred officials impeached Tian Wenjing, and a large group of officials knelt at the door of the hall to put pressure on Emperor Yongzheng, but he didn't let go.
No matter what Nian Qianyao did, the hundred officials were not as united as the leaders of the Qing faction who were later executed, and knelt to force the emperor. It's a pity that Emperor Yongzheng cut off his arm and destroyed Nian Qianyao, a team that balanced all forces in the imperial court.
This also led to the later Qing faction, the Eight Masters Party unscrupulously criticized Emperor Yongzheng's new policy, but he had no choice but to rely on his status as emperor to force it.
Nian Qianyao completed his career as a "protector of the law", and before he died, he could only cry bitterly and tell Li Wei:
"Dog, give this back to him for me!"
And Nian Qianyao's loss to the little shepherd boy in chess means that he knows that he is wrong and he lost this game of chess. He gambled that Guanyin Bodhisattva was reluctant to protect the Dharma by himself, and as a result, he lost......
And Nian Qianyao was destroyed, who is the happiest person, and who is the real trader behind this, because of the space, let's talk about it in detail next time.
