The website of the People's Government of Fengcheng City, Jiangxi Province released a notice on May 15, saying that on May 7, 2024, the ship Anhui Lianshun 1098 loaded 1,027 tons of corn kernels and transported them from Fuyang, Anhui Province to Wuyun Wharf of Ganzhou Port, Jiangxi Province. When passing through the Fengcheng section of the Ganjiang River, the hull and the navigation pier collided and leaked, and the owner of the ship, Yang Mouye, contacted the main barge ship You Mouhua to transfer the corn kernels through the anchor ship owner You Mouchun, and began the transfer operation on the morning of May 8. At about 9:30 on May 10, Yang Mouye found You Mouhua, Lei Mougang, You Mougen, and Zhang Moulin (the latter three are all relatives of You Mouhua) lying in the bottom compartment of the barge. Yang immediately called the maritime and public security departments for help.
After receiving the call for help, Fengcheng City Public Security, Fire Protection, Maritime and other units quickly organized personnel to rush to the scene and urgently sent the people in distress to Fengcheng People's Hospital for rescue. At about 14:30 on May 10, four people died after all-out rescue. According to the preliminary identification, homicide was ruled out, which met the characteristics of death by asphyxiation.
The relevant departments of Fengcheng City are continuing to carry out the investigation of the situation and the aftermath of the work.
According to the central radio network, the relevant person in charge of the Fengcheng City Government said that after understanding, the death of 4 people by suffocation or due to excessive carbon dioxide after corn fermentation, and the specific cause is under investigation.

On May 18, 2023, Zhanjiang Chenming Pulp & Paper Co., Ltd. in Taiping Town, Guangdong Province, suffered a large poisoning accident caused by a fall from a height, resulting in four deaths. According to the preliminary judgment, one person fell into the catchment tank in the operation channel. Due to the hot weather and the long-term closure of the catchment pool, the organic matter in the catchment pool wastewater was decomposed by biological bacteria, generating toxic and harmful gases such as hydrogen sulfide, and another 3 people entered the pool without any protective measures to rescue, resulting in a poisoning accident.
Case 2
On June 25, 2022, a female driver of a tower crane at a construction site in Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province, fell into a coma due to heat stroke and was trapped on a 60-meter-high tower crane. The local emergency command center immediately rushed to the scene after receiving the alarm, and the rescuers wore personal protective equipment and climbed the 60-meter-high tower crane to carry out the rescue, and finally successfully rescued the woman trapped in the air.
