Three stories tell you who is your greatest nobleman

1. Do you know this person?

The Zen master of the Tang Dynasty accepted a very smart and diligent little monk. The little monk wanted to have an epiphany as soon as possible, so he went to consult Zen Master Zhixian.

Zen Master Zhixian said, "You have just come here and are not familiar with the environment of the monastery, so why don't you go to each room first and get to know all the masters and brothers." ”

The little monk listened to him, and in the next few days, in addition to his daily meditation and labor, he was busy getting to know other monks.

A few days later, he approached Zen Master Zhixian and said, "Master, I already know all the other masters and brothers in the monastery, what should I do next?" ”

Zen Master Zhixian glanced at him and said, "Do you know everything?" ”

The little monk nodded.

Zen Master Zhixian said, "No, there is another person you don't know. ”

The little monk was anxious: "Impossible, inside and outside this temple, I am familiar with all the people, how can there be people who don't know it?" ”

Zen Master Zhixian said, "There must be such a person, and he is very important to you. If you don't know him, you can't continue your practice. You can look for it again. ”

When the little monk heard this, he was very puzzled, and he came out of the master's room, and asked one by one, looking for it room by room, but he never found it.

Even in the dead of night, he lay in bed and thought, who is this person? But I couldn't figure it out.

One day, after he finished his meditation session, he went to the river in the backyard to fetch water and prepare for cooking. The moment the barrel was thrown into the river, he saw his own reflection on the water, and then he had an epiphany: it turned out that the person Zen Master Zhixian asked him to find was himself.

No matter where you are or where you want to go, you should never stop practicing your mind. Only by cultivating one's mind to be quiet and serene can one know and grasp oneself from beginning to end.

2. How to go on the road, you choose by yourself

No matter what misfortunes and setbacks a person encounters, he is destined to have two paths to choose from under his feet: one is the path to despair and the other is the path to hope.

As long as we can choose a path of hope, there will be no dead end.

There was a Zen master who was famous for helping people who were suffering.

There are two brothers, who come from a very remote village, and because of the famine in their hometown, they have to go to other places to work.

After a hard year, I earned some wages, and I wanted to go home for a good year, but I didn't expect to meet robbers on the way, and my belongings were looted.

The way back was far away, and there was no entanglement in their bodies, and the two brothers were so desperate that they leaned on a big rock and cried. When the passers-by saw that they were so sad, they asked them what had happened and directed them to the Zen master for help.

After understanding the situation, the Zen master asked unhurriedly, "You must be desperate now, right?" ”

They nodded.

The Zen master then asked, "Will the looted property come back on its own?" ”

They shook their heads.

The Zen master said, "Since you can't get your possessions back on your own, there are only two ways to go. One is the road to despair, and the other is the road to hope.

If you choose the former, the robbers will not only rob you of your material but also your spirit;

If you choose the latter, as long as you still have hope in your hearts, then you can start all over again. ”

The two of them looked at each other and said in unison, "We chose the path that leads to hope." ”

The Zen master nodded with satisfaction, knowing that they could be bricklayers, so he left them to repair the house in the temple. Three days later, the Zen master gave them a homecoming ent, and the brothers were grateful.

The Zen master calmly said, "This is the reward you deserve, you don't have to thank me, but you should thank yourself." Because you have chosen hope, there will be hope ahead of you. ”

That's right, life is like this, as long as you choose hope, you will definitely be able to see hope. Those who see only despair in the midst of setbacks often drive themselves to a dead end.

3. Who does the Bodhisattva worship?

One day, a young man with a gloomy face came to the temple and went straight to the statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva and knelt down. Like all people who have encountered difficulties, he has no choice but to come here to ask for the Bodhisattva because of the difficulties he encounters in work and life.

At this time, a kind man came beside the young man.

When the young man saw him, he felt that his face was somewhat familiar, and when he looked closely, he found that he looked exactly like the Guanyin Bodhisattva on the altar. What's even more strange is that this person actually knelt on the futon and kept kowtowing to the Guanyin statue.

The young man felt strange in his heart, and couldn't help but ask, "...... Is it the true body of Guanyin Bodhisattva? ”

The man nodded.

"Why do you want to worship yourself?"

The Bodhisattva smiled at him: "It is better to ask for others than for yourself." ”
