What kind of "smoke" is he smoking?
This kind of "e-cigarette" is getting more and more smoked
In October 2023, Mr. Wang's son bought an "e-cigarette" and learned from others to "swallow clouds and spit fog". At first, Mr. Wang didn't care, but soon after, he noticed that his son was acting abnormally.
Mr. Wang recalled: "After smoking, I staggered, I couldn't walk steadily, my hands were still shaking, and I suddenly forgot what I had just done." ”
Recalling the previous community propaganda that "top e-cigarettes" were new drugs, Mr. Wang suddenly became alert. Under questioning, Xiao Wang finally admitted that the e-cigarette he smoked contained etomidate.
"My son told me that this cigarette is refreshing, and it is already a bit addictive. I told him it was drugs, but he didn't listen to me at all. In order to let his son know that he was lost, Mr. Wang took his son to the local police station to turn himself in.
After a urine test, Xiao Wang's etomidate test result was positive, and he was subsequently placed under administrative detention by the police. Mr. Wang said: "It is also a last resort to report the child, and I hope he can mend his ways." ”
Etomidate is a Class II psychotropic drug
The police then launched an investigation and soon locked up Liu, who sold Xiao Wang "top e-cigarettes", and arrested him in Anhui. The police seized 3 packs of suspicious powder used to make "top e-cigarettes", more than 100 empty cigarette cartridges, and electronic scales and other items at Liu's residence.
After identification, the powder that Liu harbored was the drug etomidate. After investigation, Liu used to be a wrestler, and after retiring, he got acquainted with bad young people, began to smoke "top e-cigarettes", and gradually became addicted. Because he was unemployed and had no source of income, Liu embarked on the road of no return by selling and sucking. According to the police, after Liu purchased raw materials and accessories through certain channels, he made and sold "top e-cigarettes" by himself.
Liu confessed that he processed etomidate powder and mixed it into cigarette cartridges to package it into "electronic cigarettes", and sold it through online publicity at a price of 500 yuan per pill. As of the time of the case, Liu sold and transported e-cigarettes containing etomidate and made illegal profits of more than 1,000 yuan.
Recently, the People's Procuratorate of Baoying County, Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province prosecuted Liu for the crime of trafficking and transporting drugs, and the court sentenced Liu to one year in prison and imposed a corresponding fine.
The prosecutor reminded that etomidate is a narcotic drug, which will be officially listed as a Class II psychotropic drug by the state in October 2023, and will face administrative penalties for smoking etomidate, and will be investigated for criminal responsibility if it involves trafficking.
