1. Strength-to-weight ratio.

Aluminum is generally not as strong as steel, but it is almost one-third the weight of steel.

This is also the main reason why airplanes are made of aluminum.

2. Corrosion.

Stainless steel is made up of iron, chromium, nickel, manganese, and copper.

With the addition of chromium, stainless steel has excellent corrosion resistance.

Aluminum has high resistance to oxidation and corrosion, which is mainly attributed to its passivation layer.

When aluminum is oxidized, its surface will turn white, sometimes pitted.

But in some extreme acidic or alkaline environments, aluminum can corrode quickly, leading to catastrophic consequences.

3. Thermal conductivity.

Aluminum conducts heat better than stainless steel.

This is one of the main reasons why it is used in automotive radiators and air conditioning units.

Aluminum is generally less expensive than stainless steel.

Whereas, aluminum is a good conductor of electricity.

Due to its high conductivity, light weight, and corrosion resistance, high-voltage overhead power lines are usually made of aluminum.

Stainless steel is stronger than aluminum without considering weight.

10. Effect on food.

Stainless steel reacts less with food.

Aluminium, on the other hand, reacts with food, which affects the color and taste of food.
